Recently finished Angel's Pain (See Oct BotM) by Maggie Shayne and Shades of Dark (SoD) by Linnea Sinclair. SoD was the sequel to Gabriel's Ghost (GG). GG was a great book. SoD was knock your socks off fantastic!!!!! It continues the story of Gabriel Ross Sullivan and Chasidah Bergren. Suspense, action, romance, good guys, bad guys. This book had it all. Can't wait until Hope's Folly, the third book in this series, comes out in Spring 2009. It is Philip's story.

Okay, now they sound really good, and I have to order them. If I get my hands on them first, I may just change the Nov BotM to Gabriel's Ghost , LOL! Whichever arrives first will win, LOL! Unless you want to keep Wild and Hexy as Nov BotM, then we can post Gabriel's Ghost as Dec, maybe? Oh, how about a Chrismtas themed BotM?

I finished Deadly Harvest . Yowsa, I so can't wait until Dec 1 for the final novel in the trilogy. Excellent!

Just grabbed The River Knows by Amanda Quick from my TBR pile. It's been there a while now - figured it was high time I read it, LOL!

Post Gabriel's Ghost in November and we can use Shades of Dark in December. Like your idea of using a Christmas themed book as our second book in December.

I am almost done with One Silent Night and have real mixed emotions so far. I should be able to post my thoughts by tomorrow.

Sounds like a plan, Kathleen. I'll also post the suggestion spot for December's. If you find a Christmas themed book, you can post it there and I'll do the same. Still waiting for GG and Wild & Hexy to come in...

Since my last post, I finished The River Knows, Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman, Suite 606 (anthology) by J.D. Robb, Mary Blayney, Ruth Ryan Langan and Mary Kay McComas. Currently reading: Bad Penny by Sharon Sala 'Cat Dupree' series Book #3

Finished Bad Penny. Currently reading Karen's book, Dead On Arrival.

message 13: by Wendy T (new)

Wendy T I am currently reading The Almost Moon by Alice Sabold. Struggling to get through this book.

message 14: by Wendy T (new)

Wendy T Okay I finished "The Almost Moon" by Alice Sabold and totally hated it. The book was totally weird and I was confused througout the entire book. I rated this book 1/5 and would not recommend it. I'm now going to start "The Handmaid and the Carpenter" by Elizabeth Berg.

Since my last post, I started and finished, Dead On Arrival by Karen Vaughan, The Pagan Stone by Nora Roberts. I'm still reading I'm with Stupid by Elaine Szewczyk.

message 16: by Wendy T (new)

Wendy T I just started " Summer of my Amazing Luck" by Miriam Toews. I'm only 11 pages into it and the main charcter Lish is a real slut, so this should be an interesting read. I'll keep you posted.

message 17: by Gina (new)

Gina (ginrobi) | 3325 comments Mod
Please do, Wendy. Sounds interesting, LOL!

Finally finished I'm With Stupid. I'll be posting my review, hopefully soon. Currently reading Heartsick by Chelsea Cain.

Just finished "Succubus in the City" by Nina Harper. It is a take off on the television series and movie "Sex and the City." I have occasionally caught an episode of "Sex and the City," but never got into the series. You don't have to have seen the series to find this book a gut-busting good romp. Very funny. I am giving this one five stars and a recommendation to anyone who wants a good laugh.

It is the story of Lily, a female demon, and her three demon girlfriends, their loves, and challenges as they go about their lives of delivering souls to Satan. Satan has a female persona and is named Martha. A better corporate head couldn't be found anywhere.

Lily's story continues in "Succubus takes Manhattan." It was released November 25, 2008. I definitely plan to pick it up this week.

Hmm... sounds like something I'd like to get my hands on - probably in the new year. I've got so much to read before the end of December, it's not funny, LOL!

message 20: by Wendy T (new)

Wendy T Finished "Summer of my Amazing Luck" and was actually disappointed with it. Ii started out great interesting, but half way through took a different turn and through me right off the book and the end was not a surprise. I'm now starting "The Book of Negroes" by Lawrence Hill. This book has gotten great reviews from my co-workers.

Finished Fury's story in the anthology Dead After Dark by Sherrilyn Kenyon, J.R. Ward, Susan Squires, and Dianna Love. I thought that the beginning and middle of the story were quite well done, but the ending had an "and then they were all run over by a bus" quality to it. Suddenly Fury is rushing out to make a deal with Dare. A deal neither seen or described, and then he, Fury, is claiming responsibility for actions taken by Dare and Angelia. Better than One Silent Night, but still not as good as some of Sherrilyn Kenyon's former work.

Bummer. I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but it sounds like it's not so good. You're comments on it aren't the first I read, either, Kathleen... Guess I'll have to wait and see...

Gina, I know that you were having difficulty finding some of the early Argeneau books new, but Single, White Vampire has been reissued and is back on the shelf. With the popularity of the Argeneaus, it only makes sense that the new titles would be reissued.

Thanks, Kathleen. Looking it up now.

Finished Shades of Dark by Linnea Sinclair. Will be writing my review later, when hubby's not here and being impatient to get his hands on the computer (grrr... his pacing is driving me nuts!)

Wendy T I just finished listening to the novel "The Shack" by William P. Young. This was an amazing story to listen to, not sure if I would of enjoyed this book as much if I read it. Last night I read the new J.K Rowling's new book "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" book. I bought this book for my son, but we found it confusing. I think because we have not read the Harry Potter Series.

Finished Deadly Gift by Heather Graham, 'Flynn Brothers' trilogy Book #3. Not impressed. Started Primal Needs by Susan Sizemore, 'Primes' series Book #7. Kathleen, by the end of Chapter 2 I was balling my head off so hard, I had to close the book, take a minute to wipe my eyes, blow my nose and take a calming breath. Holy crap!

Yeppers, Primal Needs was a good one. After Laurent's story, it is my fave in the series so far, but hey, it had Tony Crowe, Sidonie, Joe . . . what else did we expect! Only thing I could have had more of was Antonia . . . but when she showed up, what an entrance! Let the revolution begin!!

Colleen, Why don't you try The Accidental Sorcerer. It is one of our books of the month. Then you can join Gina and I in discussing the book. It is a fantasy novel. If you like books such as Harry Potter, although this one was written for adults, you would like this read. If you don't like fantasy, then it wouldn't be a good fit for you.

message 45: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (colleenct1) | 1537 comments I do like fantasy. I will look for it tomorrow at the book store.
