mussolet (sovotchka) | 615 comments Good luck with your challenge Erika.
Will you stay on fantasy? (Not that there's any shortage of books ... you could do 1000+ and read only PNR ;)).
Btw, Iron Daughter has a gorgeous cover.

Heavens no. I read a lot of non fiction books, however, I do read a lot of fantasy books for fun.

I didn't really like the flow of this book. It almost read like two different stories.

Erika (readingbutterfly) | 511 comments The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1) The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I am actually interested in seeing what happens in the next book; esp with Puck. The only thing that gave me pause was the way in which the Iron Fey came about. Is this a book with a message?

A bit slow at the beginning, but it picked up about Chapter 4 and went out with a bang.

I liked it well enough to read The Iron Queen (Iron Fey, #3) right after finishing. Well I kinda had to read it as the book was going to expire from my iPad at midnight.

The books really flow seamlessly like she wrote them all at the same time. I am just a little tired of the theme at this point. I am probably going to hold off on reading Iron Knight and save it 'til later this year.

Happy Reading,

Erika

4 of 5 stars.

Really good book to review table of contents, glossary and index. The book even has an activity in the back to make the color orange using ketchup and mustard.

Zach liked reading it.

I liked this a little less than the others. I'm interested in reading the next installment Iron Knight, but not right away.

I liked portions of the story. I did not relate to the women and I was very irritated that the women acted like high school girls. The author painted a bad picture of stay at home, christian moms.

I really liked the idea of this story; something was missing though. It felt forced sometimes and overwritten. But I did like it enough to read a sequel...if there will be one.

Tatum | 459 comments Excellent job so far Erika! I'm a little disappointed that you rated The Iron Knight only 2 stars though. That was looking to me like it might be an great read. Was there a particular reason you felt it was only okay?

Erika (readingbutterfly) | 511 comments Tatum-

I think it was just more of the same. After I read Iron Queen I said I was going to wait to pick up Iron Knight. I should have. I think my rating had to do more with the plot
feeling too much like the same thing.

I enjoyed reading and discovering this new world were everyone has lived for over 5,000 years. I liked this story so much I really didn't mind the parts I didn't dig so much. Looking forward to reading the next installment.

This book is for you if you enjoy nonsensical romance. Who loses their engagement and runs around hiding by stealing a phone and becoming chummy with a perfect stranger. Needless to say I did not like this one.

This book was violent for no reason. Girls are usually catty, not Amazon beat you down types. I could not get past that aspect of the story.

I was not too surprised when I flipped to the back cover to see a picture of a male. Definitely too much testosterone in this book.

I actually read this in about three hours. It was pretty good. I liked the different concept of "love" being the disease which everyone needed to be cured of; very different.

I am interested in reading #2 to see how it all turns out.

I would have given it 4 stars, but a few things were not quite believable. (view spoiler)These things did not take away from me enjoying the story though.

I was interested in the book because of the neuroscience connection. The booked felt disconnected and seemed to jump all over the place. Also, I did not agree with some of the advice. It went against things that I know that work.

I've never read a more depressing witch novel. I also really did not like the structure of this story. It felt very disconnected. I should have stopped when she threw in the re-telling of Hansel and Gretel, but I was giving the book the benefit of the doubt.

Happy Reading or not,
