Lori Ehrman (lorilei) | 42 comments If someone who speaks German (at lesat I think it's mostly German) could check out Teresa Medeiros. There are a good 15 or so foreign titles. Thanks in advance.

message 2: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 10 comments I'll have a look through, although the German titles are not translations of the English ones so will have to do some research...

message 3: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 10 comments Ok, I've done the German titles. Whatever's left is another language that I'm not familiar with!

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments I got everything except the one in Czech. No, wait, I found that one too!

message 5: by Lori (new)

Lori Ehrman (lorilei) | 42 comments Thank you , Thank you, Thank you both so much!!

JG (Introverted Reader) | 487 comments Shel Silverstein desperately needs help from someone who can read Farsi. He has over 30 titles in Farsi on his list.

message 7: by Novin (new)

Novin | 37 comments I'll look into that.

message 8: by Novin (new)

Novin | 37 comments I combined as much as I could, but there is a problem, there are many books by silverstine in farsi, that are selections of his poems-by the translator's will- and don't exist in english, I couldn't do anything for them...

message 9: by Cait (new)

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments I've seen that happen with many translated poets and essayists, Novin! There were a couple of Adrienne Rich's collections that drove me crazy until I figured that out....

JG (Introverted Reader) | 487 comments Thanks so much, Novin. That's been bothering me for a while.

message 11: by Novin (new)

Novin | 37 comments oh, you're welcome , JG. there wasn't much I could do though, for those selections...

message 12: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 10 comments Can a French speaker please look at Colleen McCullough? I've done what I can, but I'm sure somebody else can pick these up! Thanks a lot.

JG (Introverted Reader) | 487 comments Charles Dickens needs one book combined (I assume) by a Russian speaker

He also has two books that should be looked at by someone who speaks Farsi.

message 14: by Novin (new)

Novin | 37 comments i'll look!

message 15: by Novin (new)

Novin | 37 comments done, JG. :)

message 16: by Vitali (new)

Vitali (vitalinew) | 87 comments JG, the book in Russian is "Collected works of Charles Dickens in thirty volumes".

JG (Introverted Reader) | 487 comments 30 Volumes! Thanks, vitalinew.

And thanks again, Novin.

I've seen the equivalent in English, although not in years.

Pretty sure this is Japanese, so if someone familiar with than language could help (like, can we get a full author's name?), please?

Ruth Rendell could use some combining help with non-English editions. Mostly Spanish, I think.

JG (Introverted Reader) | 487 comments Das Autoren- Paket Rita Mae Brown. 11 Titel/33 Expl. looks like NOT A BOOK to me. Can someone who reads German do something with it, please? Thanks!

message 22: by Cait (new)

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments I've got a couple of books in Portuguese that need combining help:

A Força dos Afectos by Torey L. Hayden

Palavras de Mestra by Mary Bray Pipher

Inara | 24 comments JG wrote: "Das Autoren- Paket Rita Mae Brown. 11 Titel/33 Expl. looks like NOT A BOOK to me. ..."

Hm, it seems to be a book and it is still listed at amazon.de but currently not available... I´m not sure if I should delete it?

Done.

Inara, deleting it won't help -- and if it actually is a book, availability is not relevant. Many GR members own books you cannot currently buy.

JG (Introverted Reader) | 487 comments Inara, can you tell which book, if any, it should be combined with? The "11 titel/33 expl" thing was what made me think it might not be a book. I confess I didn't actually look around for it though. Thanks for looking at it!

message 28: by Inara (last edited Dec 31, 2008 04:23AM) (new)

Inara | 24 comments I don´t think this book can be combined. It seems to be a package with 11 different books by Rita Mae Brown but as I said it´s not available anymore. So we should let it rest in peace...;-D and I won´t delete it!

JG (Introverted Reader) | 487 comments Thanks, Inara.

JG (Introverted Reader) | 487 comments Stephen W. Hawking needs quite a bit of help from someone who speaks German and a little bit of help from someone who speaks French.

JG (Introverted Reader) | 487 comments Sara Douglass needs help from someone who reads German.

Inara | 24 comments JG wrote: "Stephen W. Hawking needs quite a bit of help from someone who speaks German and a little bit of help from someone who speaks French.

I will take some time to combine the english and german edtions because the german translation of the english title isn´t exact the same and I have some difficulties to find out which one is right. But I´ll try..

message 33: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 10 comments I have done some of the Sara Douglass ones, but the rest of the German editions I have left. It appears that, in some of the series, the books were split into two when translated into German, so they are, in effect, different books from their English equivalent.

Heidi, you beat me...lol! I just looked into Sara Douglass´ books and came to the same conclusion: often english books are split into two in german (to cash up twice, how convenient)and they can´t be combined..

JG (Introverted Reader) | 487 comments Thanks, Heidi and Inara.

JG (Introverted Reader) | 487 comments Cornelia Funke also needs lots of German help. Sorry to keep bothering you with these!

Inara | 24 comments vitalinew wrote: "Christine Nöstlinger needs help from a librarian who knows German."
Done, at least for the most part. The rest needs some research..

message 39: by Vitali (new)

Vitali (vitalinew) | 87 comments Thanks, Inara! Especially for combining editions of "Cucumber King". My sister and I loved this book so much when we were kids. I'm glad to see that others loved it too.

message 40: by Cait (last edited Jan 08, 2009 02:33PM) (new)

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Philip José Farmer has several books in German that may need to be combined:

* Nick Adams letzter Aufstieg. 14 neue Stories von Spitzenautoren der Gegenwart
* Bizarre Beziehungen, Provozierende Stories
* De dagbreker
* and Das Dungeon 1-6 got the Dungeons -- they are indeed primarily by other authors!

I think everything else in there is unique.

message 41: by Inara (new)

Inara | 24 comments "Nick Adams letzter Aufstieg" and "Bizarre Beziehungen" are both Anthologies and I have´nt figured out if these books even can be combined to others. They aren´t in print anymore and there is no further information about the content to be found anywhere.. maybe someone else knows??

message 42: by Elly (new)

Elly (ellyj) | 29 comments The book 'De Dagbreker' is in Dutch, and a translation of: Dayworld. - New York : Putnam, 1985 according to the National Library of the Netherlands

Hope this helps.

Awesome! Thank you, Elly.

And thanks for looking into those others, Inara!

message 44: by jenjn79 (new)

jenjn79 | 564 comments Author Olivia Goldsmith could use some combining work for translated editions. I think most are Dutch, but it could be German...or both. And I there's a couple french and spanish in there as well.

I found the content of both books, and added them to the tekst. The first is a collection of stories by many writers, including Farmer.

The second is a group of stories by Farmer, and I found also the original titles. I have not been able to check whether this combination was also published in other languages.

message 46: by Inara (new)

Inara | 24 comments I combined the english and german editions of Olivia Goldsmith. Maybe someone with knowlegde of french and spanish could combine the rest?

message 47: by jenjn79 (new)

jenjn79 | 564 comments I was able to get the couple french and spanish editions for Olivia Goldsmith, so everything is combined for that author now.

Thanks for the help, Inara!

message 48: by Nia (new)

Nia | 6 comments rivka wrote: "Pretty sure this is Japanese, so if someone familiar with than language could help (like, can we get a full author's name?), please?"

Hmm, my Japanese isn't very good, but I can read the book cover.
Unfortunately there's no full author's name either. Only "reY" and the title of the book (shiroi jaaji - sensei to watashi). reY seems to be a pseudonym, so I think that there is no full author's name for this book.

vicki_girl | 2764 comments Would someone who speaks German please look at Kate Ross? The translated titles are different from the originals, so I don't know which is correct.

message 50: by jenjn79 (new)

jenjn79 | 564 comments Janet Dailey could use a quite bit of combining for German for anyone who wants to give it a whirl ;)
