As for the other one, it is a romance and is very good. You should try it, it takes place in Regency England.

I've never heard of Georgette Heyer. Who is she? (Other than an author, duh.)

message 429: by Caity, that crazy moderator (new)

Caity | 4434 comments Mod
she writes in the style of Jane Austen; she's written a TON of books and she's known for her wit and comedy. :) she wrote regency romances (EXTREMELY clean)
.

message 430: by Maggie (new)

Maggie | 317 comments That's good, I hate books that are filled with nothing but intimacy scenes, like many of the Pride and Prejudice spin-offs are. You can have a perfectly good story without it.

My sentiment exactly!!

I will be reading Miss Delacourt has her Day (sequel to Miss Delacourt speaks her Mind) and I can't wait as the first one was amazing!

I absolutely LOVED Arabella and recommend it ! Great story and very very funny!! Wonderful hero and heroine as well!

I LOVED CITY OF ORPHANS! Avi is awesome; have you read Crispin or Beyond the western sea????? that last one is my fav of his EVER.

message 442: by Megan (new)

Megan | 92 comments Yes, Avi is a great author! I really liked The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by him. It was a really fun page-turner. Definitely worth another re-read if I'm in the mood for some adventure. I haven't read the first Crispin book yet, but it's next on my must-read list (which means I'll be reading that next after City of Orphans)!

I liked the first Crispin book best, the second one absolutely failed because...well....you still have to read it for the story but I'm warning you it's quite disappointing. :/ and the third one was good, but not as good as the first. ;D in ALL the series was very enjoyable!
