"This book is arguing that the problem with modern society is that we've been freed from our social obligations by the state. Because the state gives us social security, we don't have to take care of grandma.

Nothing about how we've been robbed of our ability to care for grandma because we work so hard for so little. It's not that you're poor, busy and exhausted, you're too free so you don't bother. Thanks liberals."

“The rabbit helped himself to a Big Red One, a brand of cigar artificially colored to resemble a stick of dynamite. Sometimes the goofballs who roll and paint them slip a few of the real thing into the box. That’s why so many Toons have only four fingers.”
Gary K. Wolf, Who P-P-P-Plugged Roger Rabbit?

“It happened the first time we met after Jessica left me. I accused Rocco of somehow blackmailing her into it. Know what he did? He laughed at me. He didn’t even answer. He just laughed at me. Tell me, Mister Valiant, do you know how miserable it is to have a person laugh at you?â€

It seemed an odd statement from someone whose main function in life was to make people laugh at him, but I didn’t feel up to tackling the philosophic implications.”
Gary K. Wolf, Who Censored Roger Rabbit?

Manny Rayner
“Call me a nut, call me a crazy dreamer, but I think that, if everyone in the world sent trashy erotic novels to their Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ friends in other countries, there would be no more war or poverty, and we could build a paradise in two generations.”
Manny Rayner, What Pooh Might Have Said to Dante and Other Futile Speculations

Stephen King
“What you need to remember is that there’s a difference between lecturing about what you know and using it to enrich the story. The latter is good. The former is not.”
Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft
