Weissman’s short stories are always a hit! I enjoyed seeing someone with Autism as such a strong main character in such a positive light. The mysterious case will keep you in the edge of your seat as the details are uncovered and they close in on the suspect. The description really left this book with some big shoes to fill. Ready Player One is one of my favorite books and few things have compared to the excitement of that book but Permadeath did not disappoint. As a lifelong gamer, and a middle aged mom who still plays Fortnite, I can only hope I’m never thrust into a game where I must survive in order to not die in the real world. There is plenty of excitement and action that keeps you turning pages. I did not realize that this was a sequel when I started it, but I did happen to read the first book so as I started reading and familiar characters were introduced I was excited to see another chapter in Johnathan’s life. Be sure to read the first book and then grab this sequel.
