Catherine, seriously, you need to get a grip. It's a shame that Austen toned down her narrator's voice after the first few chapters, because she really ought to be laying into Catherine right about now for being completely nuts.

If this was written ten years ago, Catherine would be a TwiHard looking for a vampire to bite her.

Eugh... so sick of the Thorpes, and what the heck, we're STILL IN BATH. I get why people keep saying "no one stays in Bath more than 6 weeks" I've only been in Bath for ~150 pages and I'm heartily eager to be anywhere else. This book starts strong, with a snarky narrator seemingly at war with the characters and with genre tropes, but it really gets bogged down in the middle.

Oh my gosh, i'm over halfway through and we're finally actually headed to Northanger Abbey (and perhaps leaving the Thorpes behind, one hopes); this book should've been called Bath and Beyond

Hey, Catherine finally grew a spine, huzzah!

There's an important lesson here, if you're ever in Bath and you don't know anybody, don't annoy the author by repeatedly wishing for some convenient acquaintances, they might be the absolute worst, like the Thorpes
