Granted, there would be people who are thankful for been given shelter but there would also be some who would to the opposite and trick you. Granted the other story where mustard and vinegear turn out to be the big lion like dogs of the farmer were kind of funny.

Wow, that maid was not only brave but apparently very skilled if she can use a sword so good and just chop off the heads of those robbers so easily.

No wonder that the king was finally bored by the story, who wants to hear a story about one sparrow after the other coming and picking up grain?

This cowheard pretending the cheese to be a stone to trick the giant reminded me too much of the valiant tailor and the next about Jan Ohnefort and how he slew 7 mosquitos even more so, even if it has a raging bear instead of a boar. And I didn't like that, many stories so far seemed almost like copies and it felt boring and nothing frisian. At least Jan was already married and did not marry the princess.

If it weren't for a few tales here and there, I would not have continued with this book.

I can't help it, more and more tales here remind me of those by the Grimm's too much actually. And the book is back at the old problem of having nothing that would tell you that it is frisian. I am thinking about stopping the book to be honest.

Wow, this story about the ghosts in a mill and now the dwarf Gebhard are the first ones here who actually can be identified as frisian.

Ok, this is just dumb. The veggie-seller already kindapped Jan and Jan knows that and yet he is not weary of him? That is less believable than Jan living in a paper house.

This here really sounds like a tale by the Grimms with all the hares.

a trip to indonesia? Unexpected. And who are the robbers that the guy meets? Where did he get lost on the way to Indonesia? And did later passages suggest that these are english people here? Hard to tell as these tales are so vague ethnicallywise that they could be set in a lot of places.

This man-eating giant here acted almost the same as the dragons in a prior story, even down to having similar dialogue about smelling human flesh. This could not be a coinicidence, I supected that the prior dragons might have been giants in prior versions.
