C.E. Chester Killing my darlings. :(
C.E. Chester I love getting to answer people when they ask what I do. Especially people that know nothing about me. When I say I'm a Sci-Fi novelist, many don't believe me, or assume they heard me wrong. If they talked to me for a few minutes, they would realize I'm more than a pretty face, but most people don't take the time to do that.
C.E. Chester When I wrote Terraform Earth, I had to kill my favorite character. I went into a horrible depression. I couldn't write for weeks. So, I wrote a romance novella to cheer myself up. It worked, and I was able to get back to the sci-fi when I was done. I self-published The Wedding Singer by Cherylyn Chester, just in case anyone else needed cheering up.
C.E. Chester I was inspired to write Meteor Shooters twenty years ago when I shot trap competitively. I wrote a short story, well, actually I wrote 3 different short stories with the same characters, trying to figure out how to make it better. It ended up being shoved on the book shelve for a couple decades.

When I finished Terraform Earth, I had another research intensive book outlined, but wanted to take the weekend off. I went to bed Friday night, telling my brain to take a break before starting another overwhelming project.

My brain respond: "Do you remember that short story we wrote 20 years ago?"

I replied, "Yes. It didn't have a plot."

My brain decided we needed to come up with a plot, and didn't stop thinking about it until about 2am. Not only did I map out the plot for Relay Station #4163, but I also came up with an idea for a sequel.
