Good spot, Sandy. That typo was in the first print run, but has been fixed up for the latest edition that's out there now :)

Research. If I'm really stuck it normally means I just haven't looked into things enough. That can be a trap sometimes, because you burn a whole day on the internet. So, I try to set myself time limits, then dive back in and push through in earnest.
There's also a great podcast by Seth Godin called 'No Such Thing (as writer's block'. I recommend you check that out here:

Write what you're passionate about. If you're only lukewarm about an idea you have for a book, you'll never get to the end. You always, always, always hit a roadblock at some point that makes you want to pick up your laptop and throw it in the bin. You have to love something to get past that and actually finish something. And that's just the first draft.

I just get up in the morning, go to my desk and write.
If I waited for 'the muse' to strike, I'd pretty much just spend all my time surfing and procrastinating. Some days you grind things out, some days you get in a rhythm and all of a sudden it's 2am and you have a handful of chapters glowing back out from your screen.

My newest book, If Kisses Cured Cancer, was partly inspired when my wife was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour. We went through so many raw emotions, but also a lot of oddly funny stuff you don't really hear about from the outside. It made me shift gears in my work to write a real, yet uplifting fiction novel related to the experience. After all, they say you should write what you know. Five years later, this is what came out. Oh, and my wife is doing super well. Life is full of surprises.
