Thanks for this question! I’m going to point you to this old blog post I made that pretty much sums up my wisdom, written freshly after I went from aspiring to published:

(view spoiler)[Hi! At first I want to say that I really love Diabolic and I`m looking foward to the third part! But I have a question about the second part of these books.
How exactly is it possible, that Tyrus was a nearly perfect character and turned out to be so cruel? I always thought he woulden`t care about power and wealth. I really dont understand how a person can change that much, so please explain it to me. (hide spoiler)]

The Venalox is truly at the root of everything. All a person is, is essentially a product of their brain chemistry + circumstances. He was definitely in the sort of situation that can warp most anyone, though there is quite a lot more going on than that...

(view spoiler)[Hi S.J. Kincaid! I just finished reading Diabolic, and overall I enjoyed it! I have a quick question. In Diabolic #1, did you ever consider killing Tyrus instead of Sidonia? (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Hi! I didn’t, but I toyed with the idea of keeping Sidonia around but I needed Nemesis sufficiently vengeful at the end (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Is the title of The Diabolic Book#3 "Nemesis"? On one edition (the book) it says "untitled" and on the other (the audiobook) it says "Nemesis". Is this just a mistake and I'm getting hyped over nothing?! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I would just like to say that the Diabolic series was/is extraordinary! I love your writings so much! I look forward to reading the third book. I would just like to ask: What do you envision for Tyrus's character? When I read The Empress, his character was so solid and then after Nemesis came back from the sacred city 3 years later, he was up and down, and I could no longer tell what was real and what was he acting. I would love to answer this question at length, but I think book three will answer it for you! He's a complicated guy but there's a lot more insight into him to come. He'll be a big part of the story. I am so glad you enjoy the series! Book three is next summer! Sorry for the wait, but it'll be worth it!

I have a title I can't share, and it should come out summer of 2019!

She's based physically on a friend and personality wise on the main character of the first ever manuscript I finished.

Hi Nemesis! First of all, thank you! I actually used to have that same dilemma when I was younger: I'd start a ton of things and stop them. The way I finally completed my first ever manuscript was by cowriting one for fun with my best friend. That way, when I was slacking, she picked up the slack, and once I (co) finished that one, I realized it was entirely possible to write others and broke through the psychological barrier that caused me to abandon stories before that.
Another alternative is to try posting your first stories somewhere like wattpad chapter by chapter so you'll have some public encouragement. Just get one written and I swear the others are easier!
