My time

This summer, I haven't been into writing. I've been spending my free time working with my new German Shorthair, Hershey. Looking forward to this hunting season, going on a trip to Nevada with her. We'll be camping in the middle of nowhere, where the chukars outnumber the people - beautiful starry nights.

TV Mini-Series

I finished my screen play. It turned out to be the first seven one-hour episodes of a TV mini-series. I've been shopping it to screen play agents, but nothing.

I'm burnt out with writing - 7 books in 3 years. I've channeled my creative urge to painting, again, painting a picture per day. When that burns out, I'll go back to writing.

All the best,
Rob

Free e-book Like Dry Toast in Hot Tea

My new book, Like Dry Toast in Hot Tea, is on Amazon. You can get the Kindle edition for free until 9/10/17.

These one hundred short poems with no names were written in late winter and the following spring in 2017 when we had a lot of rain in Northern California. That’s why several of them speak about that time of year when there is the gray sky above and the wet earth below.

It’s also the time of year when a cup of hot tea and a piece of toast is a wonderful thing. Sometimes the simplest thing is the most satisfying. If you’re having your tea with a piece of dry toast and you’re dunking it, there’s no need to put jam or butter on it. To add the jam and butter would ruin the perfect balance between the toast and tea. It’s complete.

A cup of hot tea can do many things, depending upon how it is served. With milk and sugar, it’s warm and comforting. Holding the cup in your hand is almost like holding the hand of your best friend. If green tea is served plain, it can stimulate your mind. If it’s black tea with a slice of lemon, it can help you get over a cold or the flu. Tea is so simple, yet so beneficial.

I hope you find these poems simple and complete, like dry toast in hot tea.

Cajun Navy

I went to make a donation to the Cajun Nation for their work in Hurricane Harvey. On their Facebook page they posted this, which I found remarkable: "We respectfully ask that you not send us any donations at this time, as our needs for this mission are being met. Please reach out to your local churches and emergency personnel, as they will be dealing with long term recovery for quite some time, and are often the overlooked heroes. Hot food, a kind word or prayer, or monetary donations will be of tremendous help to them. Thank you for your support and God bless!"

Stimulus for Creative Writing

I went for a week down to Mexico for fishing, which was a disappointment - poor fishing. I had been to Mexico, to different places for fishing, and it had always been excellent. At any rate, the environment was an excellent stimulus to the imagination for creative writing. It's good to get out of the rut, now and then.

Kickstarter failed

The Kickstarter project failed because it didn't reach the goal of $500. It got up to $202. I'm going to try another one in September for Like Dry Toast in Hot Tea, but with a lower goal. We'll see if it works this time.
