New Collection of English Ghost Stories and Folklore
Curious England: A Guide. Volume Two.
Lavishly illustrated with well over 100 photographs (black and white in the paperback, colour in the Kindle), this second instalment in the Curious England series introduces the reader to many more lesser-known folkloric and historical curiosities of rural England, its towns and smaller cities. As in the first volume, you will encounter ghost stories; tales of devilry and witchcraft; local takes on national history; characterful carvings in wood and stone; prehistoric monuments and their associated folklore, and a curious tale or two that defy conventional classification.
Its geographical focus this time is on the West Country, although a number of Midland counties are touched upon, as well as Suffolk; you will also find a few entries on Cumbria which received more comprehensive coverage in the first guide.
Available exclusively from Amazon at

Curious England: A Guide
Curious England: A Guide.
Illustrated with 113 photographs, this book, a casual and somewhat idiosyncratic guide to various folkloric and historical curiosities dotted about England’s villages, towns, and countryside, is meant primarily for the reader’s entertainment and enjoyment; it is not intended to be an academic tract. It is by no means comprehensive, as no single volume could ever hope to be, such is the vast scope of the subject matter covered within. What it will provide, however, are a few pointers respecting what to look out for, and what to be aware of, whilst you explore the areas covered within these pages. It may be said to be a travel guide of sorts, as well as a time machine; a ramshackle vehicle into the peculiar realms of folkloric memory. Thus will you encounter ghosts; curious carvings in stone and wood; enigmatic echoes of a lost pagan past; stories of vanished villages and the Devil’s many, and often incompetent, works; tall tales and prehistoric monuments, and the often deadly beauty of the English countryside.

New Release: An Occult Omnibus: Collected Occult Tales 2016-2018
New Release:
An Occult Omnibus: Collected Occult Tales 2016-2018.
This Kindle omnibus brings together H.E. Bulstrode’s occult mystery novel Upon Barden Moor , as well as two occult novellas Gwydion’s Dawn and The Cleft Owl and the short story 3:05 am. All were originally published as standalone stories between 2016 and 2018.
Upon Barden Moor
‘A shocker of occult terror and death with near cinematic strength.
Tweed, feathers and blood mix with Westminster skulduggery and the disappearance of a village schoolmaster in this tale of grouse-shooting Edwardian aristocrats with a taste for occult dabbling on the Yorkshire moors. Some forty or so years later, George Haddon leaves an enigmatic note, and as the mystery unfolds the reader is transported back to the events of one stifling afternoon upon Barden Moor. This is the moment with which his fate has become inextricably intertwined.
Gwydion’s Dawn
Murder, mystery and magic: a satirical journey into the occult.
Lust, mushrooms and the quest for immortality: meet Gwydion Turner, an inept, portentous, psychedelic demon raiser; a wannabe Crowley in crushed velvet. From Haight-Ashbury to Glastonbury, this eccentric figure has been known by many, but understood by few; just who, or what, is he? Is he a fraudster, or a sage? It’s for you to decide.
3:05 am
It has often been said that too much television isn’t good for you. There are, however, some things you simply have to watch, even though the consequences may be neither pleasant, nor quite what you had expected.
The Cleft Owl
A tale of occult horror, deception, and intrigue in 17th-century England.
Witness the work of a practitioner of the occult arts, a willing deceiver and interpreter of dreams, schooled in awe by a house of God rendered a charnel house by a fiery, dancing orb of light. Self-tutored in greed, and self-assured in his deceptions, Robert Tooley would have many think him able to command the dead and have them do his bidding, but as his demands grow greater, so the villagers doubts grow deeper; there will be an end to it all, and not a pretty one.

New Ghost Story
Levelling: A Ghost Story, the latest instalment in the Tales of the Uncanny Series has now been published in Amazon Kindle and can be viewed at the following universal link:
An atmospheric ghost story from the Somerset Levels
It is late August 1975, and a pair of damselflies couple in the last rays of a summer’s day as something belches forth from the foetid depths of a Somerset ditch. Jennifer Meadham looks on, transfixed, as her husband falls apart before her, but this is only the foreshadowing of the horror that is to come. His return is her first visit, but will it also be her last?
Dr Geoffrey Meadham has maintained a lifelong silence with respect to his boyhood home and his parents, but now, it seems, his wife is about to find out why; she is about to learn the meaning of ‘levelling.
