First Draft of Cover

So very excited to have the first draft of the new cover of Two Moons of Merth.
Artist Teresa Pelleccio has done a great job. I love having unusual art work for my novels and don't really care if it fits into a "publisher's" idea of what a fantasy novel cover should look like. I've always been a square peg. My work reflects that as it should.I am about 3/4 through the first draft and hope to publish this summer. We'll see how that goes. I'm totally a pantser so only the muse knows for sure.

Action Scenes

Snowy days inspire me to blog for some reason. You've got to admit the view out my window is stellar.
I have been writing some action scenes for The Two Moons of Merth and I've got to tell you I enjoy action scenes more than I thought.
I am making the book available on the Amazon Vella format as I write. I'm up to 80 chapters and have posted around 35. Once the book is complete, I will take it off Vella. Also, I have contracted with artist Teresa Pelliccio to create the cover. Below is an excerpt fromThe Two Moons of Merth. Check it out and let me know what you think. At this point she has been taken in an arm lock from behind. Their guards have arrived on the scene and Ali gasps as she sees one of them struck down. The clashing of swords gets louder as the mortal exchange grows. Her assailant tries to haul her off, but she punches him hard with her one free elbow and somehow twists loose kicking him sharply in the groin with her knee. “Sossa, faw! she hears him curse. She searches the ground for her blade and sees it just out of reach. Fontar is now engaged in sword fight with two of the marauders. She picks up the knife, but as she does someone kicks her from behind so hard, she lands forward on her head. The sound her head makes hitting the ground is like a ripe melon splitting open on a hard surface. She is temporarily dazed, but fighting for her life she grabs the knife, now beneath some of the warriors engaged in a sword battle. The knife is seen by Fontar who kicks it her way. She picks it up and charges at the man behind her, who once held her captive and who is now brandishing a knife of his own. She makes quick work of him using her skills to throw him off balance with her leg and then using the full force of her smaller body to plunge the knife, through his thick leather tunic, all the way into his heart.

I've gotta' tell you
Hitting that button on my phone that goes straight to the KDP report is my new addiction. Every time I see a sale or Kindle pages read my heart soars.
I don't know what it is about some of us who absolutely have to create. But when I realize I have connected with another human being through my writing I am absolutely uplifted. If I could eat good reviews, believe me I would send my work out to everyone for free.Recently a friend of mine told me one of my books was quoted during a presentation. Wow! who am I to be quoted?
One of the biggest surprises of publishing
Stay warm this January and curl up with a good book.

Of Mist and Stone

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The first time I encountered John Two-Hawks was at the Gem Theatre, a modest, historic theatre in a small town in Arkansas. I was enchanted by his performance of indigenous flute music and humble homilies. I didn’t know at the time, just how famous the Grammy® and Emmy® nominated Recording Artist was.
Most recently we got to visit during a book fair we both were participating in, put on by the Writer’s Colony of Dairy Hollow in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. After visiting with him I couldn’t wait to read his new book Of Mist and Stone, a carefully researched spiritual quest based on his personal travel experience of his two lineal identities, Irish and Native American, which isn’t as uncommon as you might think.
As I burrowed into the slim tome, I felt like I was going on an adventure, much like the first time I picked up Erich von Daniken’s pivotal spiritual exploration of ancient peoples, Chariots of the Gods. In John’s book, there were secrets to discover and connections to be made about exceptionally diverse groups of people, the Irish and Native Americans. What a reach I thought, but John’s bloodlines speak to him in a way that isn’t to be ignored, much like my own ancestry calls to me at times.
John has traveled around the world connecting with people through music and spreading his message of hope and spirituality. Along the way he has spent much time in Ireland seeking to connect his two diverse worlds. Studiously he has found some unusual parallels through ancient symbols such as circles. Lakota Holy Man, Black Elk once said “everything an Indian does is in a circle…everything (in nature) tries to be round. Even the seasons form a great circle in their changing, and always come back again to where they were. Of special note in the book are sacred places John has personally visited such as the medicine wheel in northern Wyoming, a 1,500-year-old circle made of stones which reveals a mysterious knowledge of the cosmos and lunar cycles.
Place such sites in juxtaposition with the many ancient stone circles in Ireland that echo enigmatic properties of ancient cultures. Two-Hawks also highlights numerology found in nature as an ancient connection.
He writes eloquently of the songs the ancients knew. “To touch once again the mysterious powers of sacred numbers and their meanings. To return at long last to the oneness of celestial alignment that whispers to our spirit from the distant, ancestral place of mist and stone.
I highly recommend you read the book and open your connection to the parallels of ancient cultures. Oh, and don’t forget listen to John’s music it will speak to you of these ancient parallels as well.

Whoohoo Sound

I am so very excited to now have Beyond: A Tale of Discovery on the other Side of Life available in an audio format. I had never gone through this process before and it was my good fortune to stumble upon San Francisco vocalist and opera singer, Hannah Fuerst
