"Living in Painter’s Mill would scare me more than any other crime-ridden place. I mean, how much real awful shit can this poor Amish town handle? But somehow, Kate Burkholder manages to escape another near-death experience. I thought she was a goner "

"This is maybe the 6th or 7th novel I've read in the author's Kate Burkholder series, and, like the others, this one delivers. Solid story, good characters, interesting backstory, with the whole ex-Amish police chief angle. The author brings this sord"

"This book held my attention from the very beginning. I enjoyed the characters and the Amish twist. It really brought to light the naïveness those young Amish possess. The story was fast paced with easy reading chapters. The ending seemed to come quic"

“God knows, I’m no expert on relationships, but I do know when something’s good. And this thing we’ve created between us is precious and rare. I only hope it’s not fleeting, because for the first time in my adult life, I’ve given someone the power to hurt me.”

So pleased to hear your coming to Michigan again. We previously met you in Lansing which is about 50 miles from us. But, we will make the trip to Gaylord if your not coming further south. Really appreciate the heads up, and a new book.

Thanks for your note, Tara. So pleased you're enjoying the books and really nice to hear I inspired your grand-daughter. My publisher is working on tour events for After the Storm this summer. I'm pretty sure I'll be at Saturn books in Gaylord MI. Is that near your neck of the woods?

I hope you enjoy the book. It's darker than the movie in terms of tone, language and violence. Hope that's okay with you! I loved the movie, btw. Neve was an excellent choice for Kate Burkholder. I think just about every character was well cast.
Thanks for writing and have a great day!
