As you'll know from my previous blog post, over the next few months I'm going to be working with a very talented and creative bunch of people to produce a 'play' based on TimeRiders which will be performed within the virtual space of MineCraft!Odd-sounding concept at first,I know. But, I'm beginning to get with it now. The idea is that a team of voice actors, playing the roles of Liam, Sal, Maddy and the support units will perform their lines on stage in Derry, Ireland, while a team of 'puppeteers' will control their avatars on a server where the 'sets' will have been constructed by a dedicated team of MineCraft architects.The play will be streamed live for millions of viewers world wide, and, part from being fun for all involved, should do two very important things; firstly...it'll demonstrate that something like MineCraft CAN be used as a story-telling medium. Secondly, hopefully, millions of young lads out there who (perhaps) spend a little too much time playing MineCraft and other games may be inspired to give those dusty old things, 'books', a go. (Starting with TimeRiders hopefully!).This week, on Thursday, I'm travelling down to London to meet with the team and have our first workshop. I have the bare bones of story lined up for the play. But first, I need to work out what scenes and settings are do-able, what technical limitations we may have....that's the purpose of this workshop. I'll be posting again on Friday, the progress and results of this first session, hopefully with one or two photos of the team involved. And perhaps...even a teaser as to what the story will be!So please do check back this weekend. And please do tell your friends and spread the word. Hi there.I just thought I'd give you a brief update all on the various projects I'm involved with. By the way, this is one of the reasons why I've been bloody awful at updating my site, just, too many things going on!. But that's going to change because...well you'll see why below.Remade Series:The first book came out last year as I'm sure you're all aware. The 2nd book in this trilogy is going to be called Reborn and is due out in July. I'm currently doing final edits on this, which will then go back to my publisher, Macmillan, for copyediting, printing and so forth.TimeRiders10 (and more):Yes....I am planning that. I intend to write that later this year. At the moment, no publisher has been contacted regarding publishing that. But that process will begin when, and only when, I've completed the book.Ellie Quin Series:This last week I've been working on book 6 of the series. I'm hoping to complete it during February, and, because it's self-published, that means I can have it up on Amazon kindle within hours of typing 'to be continued...'! So, Ellie fans, keep your eye out for her latest instalment sometime towards the end of Feb. (oh, and for those of you who don't mind spoilers? Well.......);)PlayCraft:Okay, here's some big news. The BBC's art's fund known as 'The Space' has commissioned a play, based on TimeRiders, to be performed in the virtual space of MineCraft! This may sound like a bizarre project at first, but bare with me. The play will be performed by a cast of stage actors, and 'puppeteered' by a number of very well known youtube personalities within the MineCraft community. And this play will be live cast across the world to many millions of MineCraft fans. It's going to be huge. And incredibly exciting to work on. The play will be performed in August this year. I will be doing a 'behind the scenes' blog right here on this website. So, if this sounds intriguing, do please watch this space!.Movies/TV:I'm involved in a number of projects right now. Firstly, there is the TV series based on my end-of-world thriller LAST LIGHT. Finance is rapidly coming together and we can hopefully start seeing development some time this year!Also, there's a movie script I've written called ICARUS, which currently has a very interested US producer and funds coming in. How would I describe it? As very timely, and very topical, that's how! It's a high-concept thriller that well, with recent political events has suddenly become VERY topical. Again, watch my blog. As this starts to gather momentum I'll be posting updates here. (By the way, I've also written ICARUS as a novel, which, once the movie goes into production, I'll be looking around for a publisher, so if you're one of my adult-book fans, fear not....more is on the way!)And finally. This month I've been working on another film script with the working title of 'THE MAN IN THE BOX'. At this early stage it would be silly of me to give too much away, so I won't say anything more than it's another high-concept thriller, in a Truman Show meets World War Z way. But no zombies...to be absolutely clear. (I am so-o-o-o-o bored of zombies!)Anyway. Plenty to keep me busy, and what I'm going to do is shove my progress (and dirty laundry while I'm at it) for all to see.So, providing Trump doesn't blow us all up with his mindless tweets...please do drop by and say hi.
