Terri's Passing
It is with great sadness and a shattered heart that I announce the passing of my wife of 32 years, Terri L. Austin, known to me and her friends as . It has taken me some time to garner the strength to write this notice.
Terri passed away from COVID pneumonia on January 7, 2022. She had so many stories of Rose and Holly that she wanted to tell. She had been working on her next Rose mystery and almost was finished with the first draft. Sadly, because only Terri could understand where her characters were going and what they were going to do, Rose’s next and following adventures will never be told. As the first reader of her stories, I will have a hole in my heart that no other story will fill. I have loved seeing her grow as an author over the years, and she loved writing. She only wished she could write faster, but many life and health issues over the years slowed her process down.
Terri was always humble and ever so grateful to her fans. She really wanted to pass on the stories that she enjoyed writing. Her writing process was an adventure to her, since she was a “pantser. She would come out of her office after writing a chapter and either be laughing at something a character did, or amazed at what someone did and couldn’t wait to get back to see what would happen next.
She had one more romance novel that was completed as part of an upcoming Irish Brawlers series, The Rules of Engagement , but she was waiting to write the second of the series before releasing it. It can be read as a stand-alone novel, so I will be releasing that sometime in the future, as well as a novella that takes place in the Null world originally released in an anthology. These will be the final tributes to her career as a writer.
Missing her every day,
Jeff Snethen

Flown the Coop
I’ve recently come to a mileÂstone in my life—I’m an empty nester. I’m forty-three and my kids have abanÂdoned me. Okay, yes, I’m happy they’re in colÂlege and doing well. Even though it’s sumÂmer and they should be home, stayÂing up too late and eatÂing me out of house and home. Instead, they’re being proÂducÂtive and getÂting eduÂcated. The nerve, right?

BOOK CLUB FRIDAY - GUEST AUTHOR TERRI L. AUSTIN
I love a good hero. Or in the case of my new mystery, Diners Dives and Dead Ends, a good heroine. Rose is brave in the face of adversity. She’s loyal and kind. All good fictional hero/heroines should be brave, likeable, but flawed and human at the same time.
But I have to admit, I love a good villain just as much. A good villain lets our heroine shine. Gives her something to work against, makes her sharper, stronger. Brings her game up a notch.
