@hchomgoblin and royal boiler made these food pyramids on their eating habits, inspired from the old Food Pyramid nutrition guidelines. The idea was too fun to resist, so I made one too :D

A while back you recommended a bunch of hip hop artists. I listened to Blackalicious and I loved Blazing Arrow. A Tribe Called Quest is incredible. All the artists you said were great. Any chance I can get some more pleaaase?

If you liked Blackalicious and Tribe, then maybe you’d like Digable planets: Reaching album. And the Pharcyde is great too (Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde &Labcabincaliforniaare the 2 albums from them I like best) Mos Def and Talib Kweli’s Black Star album is good—both of those guys have a lot of great stuff..

here’s some videos I like ., , , “my back is killin me I got new york on it , , . hmmmm yussss.

Two vintage (93 and 96) cover-art...

:

Two vintage (93 and 96) cover-art obscurities from my time producing the Dirty Pair comic, back in the fabled day.

First up is a cover promoting the then-upcoming miniseries Dirty Pair: Fatal But Not Serious, prominently featuring the “evil Yuri clone who loomed large in that project. (Well, “misguided Yuri at worst, given that she thought she was participating in an unorthodox simulation.) Side note #1: The illo’s line art was cel-painted by the great artist Robert deJesus, and I don’t just mean cel-shaded, either; he actually painted the back of an acetate transfer of the inks, just like a real animation cel. Side Note #2: Jeez, Yuri was rocking some Seriously Big Hair circa 93, huh?

Next up is a later cover illo involving Fatal But Not Serious once again, this time when the miniseries was being serialized in the UK magazine Manga Mania. I tossed Major Kusanagi in the background because Ghost in the Shell was likewise being serialized at the time. Color guides on this one were done by my old buddy Joe Rosas, who was king (or at least prince!) of the now-bygone era of marker-based color guides, an era that soon came to an abrupt end once Photoshop-based comics coloring took off. Side Note #1: Such is my can’t-turn-it-off eye for detail that, when I glance at this piece almost 20 years later, I instantly think, "Dagnabbit, the knuckle and elbow-plate studs on Kei’s Kirby-style armor are supposed to be gold, no blue!” Sigh. Side Note #2: Yeahp, most of the miniseries took place at Kei’n’YuriCon 2141, an in-universe convention for fans of the controversial trouble consultants. And yeahp again, the convention was fairly blatantly derived from my first few years of comics- and anime-congoing experience.

I took a cue from Brandon Graham and Marian Churchland and illustrated my own food pyramid. I trust it’s obvious that this machine runs on high quality ingredients only.
