Desert Island Books

Here in the UK we have a radio programme called Desert Island Discs. A prominent personality is interviewed and asked which seven discs they would like to have with them if they were marooned on a desert island. I’d find it hard to choose I can manage one ‘What a Wonderful World sung by Louis Armstrong; my father chose it for his funeral and if I ever get to the stage of planning my own funeral (eek) I think I might ask for that too.

What if you were asked to choose seven fiction books to take with you if you get marooned, which ones would you take? If you can only manage one, then do tell us which one. If you are an author, you are allowed to take one of your own books!

Of course, you will find that when you get to this island that the book associated with your faith is already there to greet you.

And if you want to get stocked up before you get marooned then two of my books are on sale:

Hide in Time by Anna Faversham is currently on a 0.99 Kindle Countdown Deal until 2nd May

Mistake in Time by Anna Faversham will be 0.99 from 2nd May through to 8th May

Both are FREE if you are a member of Kindle Unlimited.

And a favourite quotation to leave with us all is from Mark Twain (again!)

“The best way to cheer yourself is to try to cheer somebody else up.

Or I would add - to read a good book with lashes of all the things you like and having a happy ending.

Denise Spicer Just ordered Hide in Time. Looking forward to reading! I also am writing a time fantasy called A Very Fragrant Winter set in 1984/1918 (flu epidemic). Hope to finish this summer😃.
Thank you so much for the 99 cent offer as I am on limited income but love the chance to support other authors. I always write reviews on both goodreads and Amazon. I have published several books on Amazon, most are under $10 for paperback and all are 99 cents on Kindle.

Anna Faversham Thank you so much, Denise, and I hope you really enjoy Hide in Time. It was the first book I wrote.

I see you have written quite a few books and I wonder which one of your books you like best?

Denise Spicer I always seem to like whatever I am currently working on/struggling with. LOL. But I think my Blue Door of Christmas is quite cute. Also like my creepy weird funny Tales Scrawled in a Musty Notebook. Kalama Tea Jay, set in a fictionalized version of an adorably cute actual small town, also features some writing by my talented siblings and I think it is very funny
Can't really say about my poetry as I don't even like poetry but am cursed with a mind that thinks that way. So for instance I was awakened much too early this a.m. with the beginnings of a poem festering away. It feels more like some weird kind of incurable disease than an enjoyable hobby!! The Muse, I always like to say is both a fun playmate and at the same time a terribly harsh taskmaster.

Anna Faversham Your muse, hmm.... I have a feeling a lot of authors would say the same.

Orinoco Womble (tidy bag and all) If I could only have one book with me, it would be The Complete Works of St Therese of Lisieux. It's not fiction but it's the one I'd want with me. For years it sat on my nightstand to dip into at odd moments. Now with ebook readers you have one "book" with thousands of titles on the SD card.
As for fiction, the Phryne Fisher novels would be my pick. Yes, there are more than seven, so I'd leave out Urn Burial, Raisins and Almonds, and Death in Daylesford.
