If you like your fantasy romanticÌýand your romance fantastic, consider author Scarlett St. Clair and her Adrian X Isolde series. It also helps if you like vampires. Queen of Myth and Monsters follows up last year’s King of Battle and Blood and continues the story of Isolde de Lara and her oddly successful marriage to the vampire king Adrian. Hey, if they can make it work, hats off to those two crazy lovebirds. Book two adds further marital complications, like feuding goddesses and something called “the blood mist.â€ Uh-oh.
Jen DeLuca’s very fun Well Met series specializes in love stories that play out in that most festive of environs—the Renaissance Faire. In the latest installment, Well Traveled, uptight attorney Louisa “Lulu Malone finds herself loving festival life, especially when she meets handsome Dex MacLean, part of the touring act known as the Dueling Kilts. Men in kilts. Does it get any hotter? We submit that it does not.
Tilda Sherwood has issues. As the only nonmagical member of a powerful magic family, she’s dealing with some very specific domestic dynamics. Complicating things further, she keeps getting set up on dates with the hot but arrogant cad Gil Connolly, who may or may not be some kind of triple agent provocateur working for the magical authorities. Also, she’s fighting a sinister evil bent on world domination. Hmm. Maybe some sex would help. Ìý
From the author of I'm So (Not) Over You, the queer rom-com A Dash of Salt and Pepper introduces Xavier Reynolds, a talented chef recently forced to return to his small-town home in Maine. After finding work at a new hipster restaurant, Xavier also finds he's got the feels for his new boss, single-dad Logan O’Hare. Work relationships are tricky. Restaurant work relationships are treacherous. Dating the owner is never a good idea. On the other hand
Natalie Fincher has it all lined up: a loving husband, a dream cottage, and an upcoming tour of her own stage musical. After a tragic death leaves her lonely and adrift, her only comfort is playing piano anonymously at a London train station. But when someone starts leaving some very significant sheet music at the station piano, Natalie finds the first glimmers of new hope. British author Lia Louis returns with her first novel since last year’s Eight Perfect Hours.
Sharon C. Cooper (Business Not as Usual) is back on shelves with this second-chance romantic comedy set in the world of competitive real estate development. Morgan Redford is determined to buy a house in order to help care for foster kids aging out of the system. Her ex, real estate developer Drake Faulkner, has his eye on the same property. As the competition heats up, so do the old familiar feelings. Might there be a happily-ever-after for all involved?
Indigo Clark is ready for a man, a lover, a partner in life. (One guy, not three guys, to be clear.) She’s got the career, she’s got the tight-knit family, she’s got the friends, and she’s certainly got the money. And so, with her usual efficiency, Indigo decides to address the issue rationally: She will arrange for an open-ended series of dates—and keep her foot on the gas until the proper man shows up. Sounds like a pretty foolproof plan, does it not?
The Davies and Montgomery families have been bitter rivals for hundreds of years. That’s the central hook in Kate Bateman’s Ruthless Rivals historical romance series, in which various family members from both clans discover that forbidden fruit is the juiciest of all. This time around, naval captain Morgan Davies returns to London to court the elusive Harriet Montgomery, who kinda-sorta caused him to be shipwrecked and imprisoned. Hey, everyone’s got their kinks.
