Hi Goodreaders! I'm a Stephen King fan so naturally, I was drawn to Dean Koontz books. However, it seems some of his books have an element of evil/horror that may have me not being able to sleep at night. Can someone recommend me a Koontz novel that is a good thriller/suspense; but less on the horror/evil side? Maybe more like Stehpen KIng's 'Misery', 'Christine', 'Cell'. Hope someone can help me!

Tom Dianne, I've been reading both King and Koontz for years and on the whole I find Koontz's books much less disturbing than King's, he's a devout Catholâ€¦m´Ç°ù±ðDianne, I've been reading both King and Koontz for years and on the whole I find Koontz's books much less disturbing than King's, he's a devout Catholic and very gentle person so I wouldn't worry too much, not that they can't be very disturbing sometimes because they can, but nothing a King fan would worry about IMO.(less)

what was Odd asking his mother to help him remember? (When she got upset and threatened to shoot herself) He kept pushing her to remind him of something - but i must have missed it , because I don't get what he wanted from his crazy mother?!

By provoking his mother to reenact the gun part, he realizes that he missed something important with the wound. He goes back to where he stashed the body and discovers the satanic tattoo which then leads him to connect it to the cop and that allowed his sixth sense to lead him to the mall. (less)

Does the black room ever get explained in any of the Odd sequels? It seems to be missing a point, and was one of the more intriguing parts of the novel.

Tori Hasty No, the black room is never really explained. I feel that this is because it is as new and unusual to Odd as it is to the reader. Why was it in Robertâ€¦m´Ç°ù±ðNo, the black room is never really explained. I feel that this is because it is as new and unusual to Odd as it is to the reader. Why was it in Robertson's home? I hypothesis that it has something to do with the bodachs. They are draw to death and destruction therefore it would make sense that they would find entrance to this world through people with murder on their mind, such as Robertson. I think that Odd might have showed up while the bodachs portal of entrance was still open. Only Odd could see it because of his gift but he is not a bodach. Therefore he could not get through. His attempted entrances are what cause the time loop until the portal eventually closed. However this is just my theory, Dean Koontz never explains it in this book. (less)
