Knockemout #2

Things We Hide from the Light

Rate this book
Nash Morgan was always known as the good Morgan brother, with a smile and a wink for everyone. But now, this chief of police is recovering from being shot and his Southern charm has been overshadowed by panic attacks and nightmares. He feels like a broody shell of the man he once was. Nash isn’t about to let anyone in his life know he’s struggling. But his new next-door neighbor, smart and sexy Lina, sees his shadows. As a rule, she’s not a fan of physical contact unless she initiates it, but for some reason Nash’s touch is different. He feels it too. The physical connection between them is incendiary, grounding him and making her wonder if exploring it is worth the risk.

Too bad Lina’s got secrets of her own, and if Nash finds out the real reason she’s in town, he’ll never forgive her. Besides, she doesn’t do relationships. Ever. A hot, short-term fling with a local cop? Absolutely. Sign her up. A relationship with a man who expects her to plant roots? No freaking way. Once she gets what she’s after, she has no intention of sticking around. But Knockemout has a way of getting under people’s skin. And once Nash decides to make Lina his, he’s not about to be dissuaded…even if it means facing the danger that nearly killed him.

nash and lina’s story was pretty decent, but it isn't that memorable whatsoever. it had a perfect level of slow burn but this book just wasn’t for me. it was way too insta-love and lust-driven, i didn’t need to constantly read how horny they would get whenever they were around each other. i liked nash and lina’s characters more in the previous book honestly. this book was way too long, you could feel it dragging out. i was skimming pages throughout bc there were so many things added that wasn't even necessary to the story. and the nicknam lina gave to nash was so cringy.. seriously,, hotshot?? literally kept throwing me over the edge.

i came here for the luciansloane crumbs and i was not disappointed at all, especially after that bonus epilogue!!!
can we all agree we are going to go absolutely feral when their book comes out!!
”thanks, mega mouth. sloane muttered.
“yes, i have a date.
“a date or a hookup? i asked at normal volume.

meh. this was fine.

LSs writing is super easy to read, but the story felt like it was taking foreverrr. the length is just wayyy too long. no romance novel needs to be nearly 600 pages.

lina and nash are decent characters and i liked them enough, but i couldnt help but feel like they are better suited to the roles of side characters rather than main ones.

the side plots help bring a little suspense into the story, but it often made the romance seem like it was taking a back seat.

none of these things are deal breakers by any means, but they also made me feel like this book was nothing more than just fine.

such a cute small town romance! This is my third Lucy Score book and I loveeee her writing style! She writes such great/fun/quirky side characters, always has great side plots outside the romance, and actually makes me laugh at moments throughout the book.

I also loved that this book is good boy bad girl. Nash is sooo sweet but also has this grumpy brooding thing going for him. And he would do ANYTHING for Lina. And Lina is so badass and independent which I love.

I didn't love this book as much as Things We Never Got Over but I still really enjoyed it. And I'm really looking forward to book 3 to get Lucian and Sloane's story!!

No one does it better then Lucy Score! If Knockemout were a real place, I would pack up my house and move there tomorrow! I never want to leave this world!

This is one of my most anticipated reads of this year, I loved the first book soooo much and I couldn't wait to get to Nash and Lina's story. It did not disappoint and if I am being totally honest, I loved it even more then the first book! This book is nonstop entertainment. I was either swooning, laughing, or fanning my face the entire book.!

Lina is just an FMC after my own heart. I can't even articulate properly how much I love her. She is so badass, independent and so damn funny! Her freak outs over her relationship with Nash had me keeled over with laughter and all her sass and witty come backs and her friendships with the other characters was perfection.

Nash. This MAN! This vulnerable, sweet, simping, infuriating, stubborn, pain in the ass man! I love him. He is so perfect for Lina. I loved how the story showed him dealing with PTSD and how he comes to terms with his past. And the dog!!!! The romance is so, so good. That epilogue was EVERYTHING! Yes, I totally cried!

The reason these books are so good besides the crazy good romance, are the external relationships! -The girls! Naomi, Sloane and Lina steal the show with their friendship, I laughed so hard with them and all of their many antics throughout the book. (boozy girls time, Halloween)
- Stef and Lina working out together with the senior citizens.
-The soccer game!
-The town in everyone's business

Now I have to just countdown the days until we get Lucien and Sloanes book! Also, am I the only one that really hopes she writes a book for Stef and Jeremiah?!

the way this took me so long to finish because i kept getting bored and putting it down 🥱

i love twngo, it’s one of my favorites but this one wasn’t it for me sadly and this was one of my most anticipated reads. tears. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

it feels like nash’s character completely changed in this? and i get wanting to create some depth but it feels like a NEW CHARACTER?? and lina.. personality where? idk they both annoyed me. and this is like 600 pages and FOR WHAT.

i loved seeing everyone at knockemout tho, that slayed. my 2 stars are for that and for the sloane + lucian CRUMBSSS.

i have a very strong instinct when it comes to certain characters and books in a series and how i feel about them. from the first interaction between Lucian and Sloane in i knew they would be the couple for me in this series. so when Lucy announced that Things We Hide From the Light is actually about Nash (H) and Angelina (h), my excitement for them was lukewarm and that’s exactly how this book turned out to be.

Nash was fine as a character, Lina was fine as a character, the romance was fine. it was very very very slowburn tho and nothing happens between them until 60%. the dog Nash found and adopted was cute tho. the length of the book is way too long. no contemporary romance should be 600 pages, but since i like Lucy’s writing and her books are pretty easy to get through i’ll let the page length slide for now, since it wasn’t too boring to read. Things We Hide From the Light had so many subplots that the romance felt a bit secondary at times. the epilogue and especially the bonus epilogue was amazing.

the secondary characters stole the spotlight for me. i really enjoyed seeing the Knox & Noami cameos and of course my babies Lucian and Sloane. all my highlights for this book are actually their scenes and september 5 can’t come sooner enough.

“You have a date? Naomi shouted the question loud enough that all the men turned and stared at us. Lucian looked like he was about to set the world on fire with his dark smolder.
“Thanks, mega mouth, Sloane muttered. “Yes. I have a date.
“A date or a hookup? I asked at normal volume.
Lucian’s hand closed into a fist, crushing his to-go cup and exploding coffee everywhere.

jealous Lucian i need more of it 🙇🏻‍♀️

Lucian deposited Sloane next to Naomi. “Move from this spot and we’ll have problems, he warned, looming over her with a finger in her face. “Bite me, Lucifer.

I went back to the wall. “You know what I remember from back in the day? “What? “I remember you and Lucy sharing these long, meaningful looks in the hall between classes. I remember him ripping the helmet off Jonah Bluth and putting him on his ass during football practice because Jonah said something about your body that I as an adult man with great respect for women won’t repeat. “It was about my boobs, wasn’t it? Sloane quipped. “The price you pay for developing early.

at this point i’m salvating over their shared history. will this be second chance?! i need more of their times in high school together.. everything i know about them so far is delicious broody bad boy x nerdy girl that barely acknowledge each other in school, but sneaking in each others bed rooms in private helloooo? i’m seated.

“Okay, seriously? You hate her guts but you don’t want her dating anyone else? Even you have to realize how unhealthy that is, I said.
“I never claimed to be healthy, Lucian said in his scary voice.

my obsession with them is not healthy either, but who needs healthy anyway

i’d rather hate a book than be this bored while reading.

i honestly wish i hated nash so that i can shit on him and have fun doing it. but i cant because i dont hate him, i dont care about him. he’s just so dull. boring. vanilla. no wait scratch that, vanilla has too much flavour. plain yogurt. thats what he is.

why are both brothers obsessed with dogs its just so BORING like just gimme the dog pov at this point it’s probably more interesting than nash. give them different things to love idk 😭 and its the way we get sm detail about their dogs too. i honestly dont care. babe lets switch it up a bit! my man lucian better be different. maybe he’ll have a parrot or something idk.

if you ever find yourself thinking “i wanna read this book! just imagine me whispering “no you don’t in your ear. this entire series isn’t even worth it. i’m gonna skip to the last book bc luciansloane but tbh im scared that book is gonna be such a flop after it being such an anticipated release. we shall see i guess.

What’s the point of having a chief of police as the main character if you’re not at least gonna make him use his cuffs. What a waste!

That’s how uneventful their romance was. I get why the author waited too long to finally make them get together, because once they did get together it was nothing. Just bland. It wasn’t a bad book, the side plots kept the book going, but I wasn’t really feeling the romance at all.

Lucian and Sloane, I did it for you guys!!

*Why can't I find a 5 star Lucy Score book?! Skip to the end for my theories. Otherwise this book was a great read and my review is below.*

"You make me feel things. And after going long enough without feeling anything, feeling something--even if its anger or adrenaline--is better than the nothing." Nash says this, but it honestly could apply to both Nash and Lina.

So this is much better than the first one, which is surprising to me since I didn’t particularly care about Lina in book one and Nash came across as boring in that book. However, this book took both characters and spun them into deeply beautiful, complicated, scared, and passionate human beings who are just looking for that one person to bring them out of the darkness and into the light (get it?! title significance?! but its true). Lina and Nash deserve the same hype that Naomi and Knox get in this series. I love them more than Naomi and Knox. They felt more real to me, like these people could exist in real life with these exact problems.

And there was only a very tiny third act break up--as in it lasted like two minutes for them before they make up!! Hallelujah rejoice. So neither one did anything extremely stupid to cause some massive issue. Its so nice to read books where there aren’t ten chapters devoted to a breakup you know is going to get resolved and is just difficult to read. This book doesn't have that, and its amazing.

Parts of this made me ugly cry. I loved seeing them both go from mindsets where they didn't believe good things in life would ever happen to them to not only believing it, but wanting all those good things together (the epilogues were 10/10 perfect and made me sob). Lina and Nash are the definition of opposites attract. They start out as sort of enemies (in a very loose sense) but it quickly turns into an insta-love that is somehow NOT AT ALL cringe or unbelievable. It's more that Nash finally feels something when he is with Lina, whereas ever since his *accident* (keeping spoiler free for anyone who didn't read book one) he's been facing depression and anxiety and panic attacks and overall feelings of emptiness. Enter Lina and his body finally starts to feel something again. Its heartwarming to see his journey from this constant state of darkness into wanting to live again, all thanks to his feelings for Lina. And Lina is a badass bad girl who falls for the hometown hero cop. PLUS he calls her Angel which just makes my heart melt and is my favorite nickname ever now.

Think: opposites attract. bad girl good guy. chief of police. spicespicespice. small town. small town crime mystery. forced proximity. fall and halloween vibes. tons of bantering. tons of cameos from book one. the best character growth and development. the cutest rescue dog! happily ever after. beautiful quotes about life. A solid 4 stars, no more no less.

So as mentioned above, I will carry on with my everlasting hunt for a 5 star Lucy Score book. I have read 7 of her books at this point and have finished each (except for one) with the same "great but not excellent" feeling. So when I finished this, I really tried to think about why none of her books have been "perfect" yet all (except for one) have been "very good."

I came up with the following reasons why none of her books have been 5 stars:
- Every character has the same personality across all of her books. You can basically replace any of her small towns with another of her small towns and the story would still work because everyone talks the same way, acts the same way, has the same quirks, uses the same style of bantering, etc. I know its just how she writes, but can we change it up? I should not be able to read one series and then find the same or identical conversations in another.
- The above also applies to the main characters in each book. If you gave me a sentence or activity that someone did in this book, I would honestly not be able to tell you if it was Knox or Nash or Stef or even Naomi's dad. Quirky comeback from one of the girls? Could be Lina, Naomi, Sloan, Fi, Amanda, Liza J, god it could even be Waylay. Couldn't tell the difference. Everyone says the same stuff, with the sole exception of Lucian.
- Her spice is good and there's a lot of it, but its not emotional? Is it just me? Its explicit and everything it should be but its never elicited much emotion from me. No idea why.
- These books have no reason being as long as they are. This is because we get useless information about useless secondary characters that have no impact on the plot. When Nash was getting his ass tattooed, we learned about the backstory of the tattoo artist. Why? This tattoo artist had no importance in this book. I skip through so much fluff that doesn't mean anything.
- MORE TO COME (maybe)

PS Lucian and Sloane's book has so much potential to be 5 stars. Seriously so hyped and have so much expectations for that and cannot wait to read it!!!

Last year I read ‘Things We Never Got Over and I was obsessed. When I saw Knox’s brother, Nash was getting the next book in the series I knew I had to read it as soon as it came out. Though TWNGO is still my top favorite Lucy Score book, I enjoyed TWHFTL so much!

Nash and Lina were so fun together. Their book was full of banter, excitement, and suspense. It also had some emotion and I loved seeing Nash open up to Lina. It took me a bit to connect to them as a couple, but once I did I was a goner for them! And that bonus epilogue was epic!

I’m so excited to see that we are getting a Lucian and Sloane book next! I’ve been hoping we would get their story and enemies to lovers is my jam. It comes out later this year so no long wait! Yay! Also, I got to meet Lucy Score at my local book store (Joseph Beth-Cincinnati) which was amazing so here’s a fun picture :)

We're back at Knockemout for the story of a man who dreams to settle down and a woman who absolutely knows what's best for her and what she wants in life - aka, Knox and Naomi’s reverse story.

Nash is slightly better than his brother, and Lina’s narration was more bearable than Naomi’s because at least she didn't need a coffee every ten minutes.
BUT it's difficult to deny that Things We Hide from the Light is a copycat of Things We Never Got Over .

Just listen: we meet Lisa in weird circumstances in the first book of the series, like her from the beginning and we obviously need more of her.
So it comes out she has a cool job and she's a good motive to be in a town where there’s absolutely nothing to do. Then she develops a crush on his next-door neighbour and praises his ass (a lot), has sex with him (a lot), thinks it could actually work out, and then she gets kidnapped; he saves her, and they realise how much in love they are, and years after they end up with their happily ever after, married with kids, surrounded by their friends.
Good thing this was supposed to be a slow burn.

It's fine, I know what was coming the moment I opened the book.
Did I expect Nash “the good guy Morgan to act like his brother, constantly saying how unfair it is of him to say how much he needs her and asking her things she can't say no to? Well, no, because he's supposed to be the good guy.
However, the most obnoxious thing in this book is Knox’s redemption arc. He had his book, he had his moment, and he ended up with a wife and a kid. But he’s still a pain in my ass by showing up every fifty pages to care about someone he had never mentioned before she had shown up - he and Lina hooked up in college but now he cares his brother doesn't break her heart?!

Lucy Score’s narration hasn’t improved since the last book, unfortunately. Her metaphors are still bad and her books are still too long and repetitive.
Also, I had already noticed this but now I feel it's not only me: the scenes where they’re all together feel so fake, like in a comedy show. I don't really know how to explain it, but it's like in Sex and the City when the girls get lunch and everything is perfect and no one has ever had a bad day which gets annoyed by Carrie’s last rant.

Now more than ever I'm curious about Sloane and Lucian’s story because they used to hate each other and then, five years later, they're kinda together. Probably married? We’ll see.
Anyway, I did it for you, guys.

why did this story basically revolve around a grown man having the most voluminous, astonishing, bewildering, magnificent, scrumptious, delicious, mouth watering, jaw dropping, bbl bubble butt known to human kind 🍑

everything else in this book didn’t matter because it was BORING. 🥱

nash morgan is definitely the better brother but omg was his book so boring the only entertaining part was the side characters and him having the best butt in the whole town.

There is boredom and then there is this book. It's not a bad book and maybe it's just a me issue, but it just didn't hit. I did not loved book 1, but atleast I liked it and it was enjoyable and entertaining and the characters had personality but this book just had... nothing.

“Whenever you’re close, everything is better. The closer you are, the easier I breathe, the less I feel like life is just a never-ending pour of lemon juice into an open wound that won’t heal. You take away the dark, the cold. And you remind me what it’s like to want to be here.

A tortured hero meets the “I don't ever do realtionship girl and then they decided to fix each other. Nash and Lina are more like side-character material. Lina was badass but boring. Nash was your tortured and broody hero of small town but he was just as boring as Lina. They were good together but it was just insta-love and I am not a big fan of this trope. Nash saw her one day and he came alive after feeling numb for months. It was weird. Give me sparks. Give me emotional intimacy and not some bullshit about how she is different because she makes him feel... something and makes his dick work. They did fixed each other in the end with the explosive sex though so, I guess it's a win-win situation.

“God help me. I wanted to give it to her. Wanted to cut myself open and let the pain, the cold bleed out so she could fill me up with fire and put me back together again.

At first, Nash and Lina decided to be in a friends with benefits relationship because Lina had hots for Nash and Nash's dick came alive when she's near him so, they decided to do friends with benefits thing but then they also never did the deed. They were sleeping together in the same bed, dry humping but tried to keep it simple and platonic for 60% of this book. If Lucy was going to give us slow-burn which I am a huge fan of, then why did she decided to insert the friends with benefits trope? It was useless. Nash and Lina had their moments but I didn't felt a thing. They just were... there.

“This is my life. You are the only thing in my entire existence that makes me feel like I’ve got a shot at finding my way back.

The mystery and suspense in this book was so unnecessary. This book was mostly about Lina and Nash solving some mystery about some Duncan guy and whoever he was because I seriously don't remember a thing. I just flipped pages after pages.

The ending was good because it ended with Knox and Naomi's wedding which was perfect. This book could've been atleast 100 to 150 pages short. There were just useless and boring fillers in this book except the Sloane and Lucian's moments. I am seriously going feral over these two and they should just hate fuck and get me out of this misery. I am so excited for their book and I already know it's going to be my favourite in this series.

With an a** like that, no wonder Lina was willing to fight Nash

And I’m not just talking about the push and pull y’all. I’m talking about what happens in chapters 35 and 36 (but let’s be honest. Chapter 36 had MY thighs quaking like Lina’s 😅. It reminded me that I need to workout 🙃🤣)

Can my resolve be as strong as Lina’s thighs were and Nash’s resistance to pushing all the way in (😉) during that fight in Chapter 36?🙏🏻

Lina’s (37) in town not only because Knox (book 1 H) asked her to be in his wedding since she’s one of closest friends, but because she’s also going after the man who shot Nash (41) in book 1, Duncan Hugo (she’s recovering an asset).

Nash’s memory’s foggy. He can’t remember all the details from the night of the shooting. It’s imperative that he remember in order to get clues to Hugo’s whereabouts, but the more he tries, the more anxious and panicky he feels😏.

It doesn’t help that Knox has Lina move next door to Nash. Not only does have to see her beautiful face everyday, but he also has to hear her whenever she’s moving around next door to him😬.

Not to mention the way his body doesn’t stop reacting to HER body whenever she’s near but then again, this might not be a bad thing either 👀. He might want commitment, and she might be afraid of it, but sometimes, the body wants what it wants 🤷🏻‍♀️😅.
”Your gun is digging into me. “That’s not my gun, I said through clenched teeth. Her mouth curved wickedly. “I know. “Then stop moving.
🥵

What I loved: potential spoilers ahead
—the vulnerability of both MCs❤️. Nash’s mental health took a hit when he was shot; combine that with his lack of memory afterwards= a recipe for disaster. The panic attacks he experiences are no joke; lucky for him, Lina’s around or is able to help him get through them. Lina also has her personal demons to overcome❤️. When she was in high school, she died while playing and was revived in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. She had myxomatous mitral valve disease and monitors her heart to make sure she doesn’t handle stress badly. Because of that, she feels the need to prove to people that she can do anything.
Nash caught me, his hands settling on my hips and tugging me closer. I hated the fact that I instantly felt calmer. “Take a breath, he insisted. I sucked in a tiny, useless inhalation. “You’re adorable when you freak out.

—the 🔥 tension 🔥! This is on the slow burn side (about 66% is when all magic begins), but BUUUT the anticipation had me panting for the grand finale 😅😉 and it was worth it 🥵. As soon as Nash sees Lina bent over trying to rescue Piper (the stray he ends up rescuing), it’s on 😎. Nash might be struggling with his mental health, but little Nash (ahem or big Nash. Whatevs 🤣🫣) is working just fine 😉. All Lina has to do is breathe near Nash and little Nash is ready 💁🏻‍♀
”You’re gonna open your mouth for me. “Excuse me? I was going for haughty but it came out breathy. He dipped his head, drawing me even closer. “And I’m gonna kiss you. “You can’t just expect— But the man did expect. And damned if I didn’t open my mouth the second his lips hit mine.

—the smeeex. Well, duh, I needed to comment on it 🤷🏻‍♀. The buildup was delicious 🤤 and oh so worth it. That counter and those walls didn’t see them coming 😉. What’s a refractory period? Nash doesn’t know what it is 🥵thank God for small miracles 😮‍

—the push/pull
He bared his teeth and I wondered if I imagined the low, dangerous growl. “You just keep pushing my buttons. “And you just keep pissing me off.
👀
I slapped a hand to his sweaty chest and gave a shove. He didn’t budge. Not even an inch. But his hand clamped over my wrist and then he was yanking me into him. He was a wall of heat and muscle and anger. My own fury melded with his and everything went molten inside me. “I hate how much I still want to be near you. His voice was a low, angry rasp, like the bite of gravel on bare feet.

—the first spooning scene 😅. I don't know how it all happened, how A got to B, but... I🔥WAS🔥HERE🔥FOR🔥IT!!!! It helped relieve some of the... um... tension I was feeling because of this slow burn 😉

—he calls her Angel 😭🥹
”Such a pretty pussy, Angel, he said, his voice barely audible over the water.

Okay. He calls her that throughout alright. It’s not just during sexy times 😅🫣

—you run, I catch 😈. Gahhhh! I looove this in books (and movies too). Lina can try running from Nash, but he’s gonna go after her. Two of the most pivotal moments in the book had Nash chasing Lina, and she could only submit 🤷🏻‍♀. I mean. Nash is VERY convincing 💁🏻‍♀. He can convince me any time 😉🔥👀

—Lucian and Sloane. Yeah. They get their own bullet. OMG THE TENSION 🔥 was just as 😮‍ as that of Lina and Nash! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻. Not me looking forward to seeing side characters that haven't gotten their book yet👀. JEEEZUS... I know that their book is going to be 🔥🔥. I couldn’t help but highlight some of their interactions. It’s going to be LITTTTT (yeah. I know. It’s a trite expression, but I don’t care 🤷🏻‍♀️)

“Maybe he’s here to have sex with you. Like some kind of dark sexy fairy granting dirty wishes, I teased. I noticed Knox didn’t bother greeting Lucian when he joined him. Looked like the pissed-off-ness was contagious. “I’d rather go to the gynecologist and the dentist on the same day, Sloane said.
😅🤣
“You have a date? Naomi shouted the question loud enough that all the men turned and stared at us. Lucian looked like he was about to set the world on fire with his dark smolder. “Thanks, mega mouth, Sloane muttered. “Yes. I have a date. “A date or a hookup? I asked at normal volume. Lucian’s hand closed into a fist, crushing his to-go cup and exploding coffee everywhere.
👀
Lucian deposited Sloane next to Naomi. “Move from this spot and we’ll have problems, he warned, looming over her with a finger in her face. “Bite me, Lucifer.
🤣
Icy fire danced in Lucian’s eyes. “No one will get near her, he promised. “She’ll probably give you shit about the attention, I warned. Something that almost looked like a smile played over his handsome face. But then it was gone. “I won’t be run off as easily this time.
🥰
Sloane paused in the open doorway. “Still up for being my date to the wedding Saturday? she called to Nolan, who was lounging against the kitchen island. “Wouldn’t miss it for the world, cupcake. “Pick me up at— Lucian slammed the door, cutting Sloane off midsentence.
🤣

—he fell first 😅. Yup. I luuuurve it in the books I read 👀 to have the MMC (H) go craaazy for the FMC (h) always has me licking my lips 😉. Plus. Nash is relentless in his pursuit 🙃. If only all men are as dedicated as he is 💁🏻‍♀

—OMD 😈. Nash touched it so it’s his and ONLY his. I LOOOOOVE me some delicious OMD 💅.

—MINEMINEMINE and JP goodness💅. Nash has his eyes set on Lina, so she’s his and only his
“I had good reason to do it the right way. “Why’s that? “He touched you.

—the bromance. Nash, Knox, and Lucian have already had this bromance going on for years, and now, we can add Nolan to the mix. I enjoyed the humor their interactions brought... and, well, the testosterone and fighting too 🤷🏻‍♀

—the dog rescue/adoption🥹. I mean. I’m such a suckaaaa for dogs in books 🥰. Piper’s such a sweetheart

—the side characters. Um. Yes please ❤️. Not only do we see Naomi and Knox, but we see other characters as well (like Sloane and Lucian). Waylay and Waylon were adorable, as well as Lina’s parents

—the moments of levity. If I’m ever kidnapped, I hope to react the way Lina did 😅 I definitely giggled when I know I shouldn’t 🤣
“What happened to your face? “It ran into my fists. Repeatedly, Knox said as he stomped past us on his way to the water fountain.

—the extended epilogue 😭❤️😭❤️ERMAGOD!!! Gahhh! I was swooning and gushing and smiling so big 🥹❤️😭. We not only see Nash and Lina, but we also see Knox and Naomi ANNNNNND Lucian and Sloane 👀

What I wanted more of:
—more on Nash and Knox’s dad (after the book ends)

—less FTB 😑, especially when it’s the first time they do things 😐. Don’t be closing the door on me 😑

—more epilogues 😭😭😭😭

Overall, I loved it ❤️

3.5 stars! It was definitely a cute story! At times I felt like it was too long but the banter and the overall love story was very easy to adore. I can't wait for the third book! I have a feeling that book will be amazing!

This was more action packed then the first book in the series, and I loved to hang out with the old crew, but I guess getting to know them and their small town in Things We Never Got Over left more impact on me.

I love small town romances and I liked this book. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Not me forgetting to review this book!

I enjoyed it, but not as much as TWNGO. TWHFTL has a very different feel to it, mostly because Nash is dealing with PTSD and depression after what happened at the end of book 1. Most of this book is Nash dealing with the aftermath, all while lusting over his new neighbor, Lina. He adopts the most adorable dog named Piper to help with his mental health, who I loved SO much. I love reading about dogs who have big personalities in books!

Lina herself is tough and badass, but has a hard time letting people in. She’s very anti-relationship whereas Nash knows he wants everything with her. I loved how the small town basically welcomed Lina with open arms and adopted her as their own. We get all the good small town feels like we did in TWNGO, with the added bonus of the suspense here being better than it was in book 1 mostly because we get the mystery and suspense throughout the whole book, rather than all at the end.

Nash is, at heart, just an absolute sweetheart who's going through a tough time. I loved how he fell first and just went head over heels when it came to Lina. We do get a ton of all the side characters, which made me so happy because we get alllll setup for Lucian and Sloane's romance, which is coming next. I CANNOT WAIT! I know I'm going to be so sad when it's here and I'll have to let go of these town and characters.

FINALLY getting to start this! I’m ready for you Nash 💖
