luciansloane were my most anticipated couple in this series bc their characters always stood out the most to me in the previous books, so i was the most excited for this one - im a sucker for a friends turned enemies to lovers book but this story just fell a little flat for me. their characters were portrayed so much better in the previous books compared to their own!! this book was also way too draggy, it felt like the story was going no where bc of how long it is.. like wtf do you need to ramble on about for 600+ pages. it unfortunately also missed that longing and angst i was most expecting. but lucian my suit daddy, you will always be loved by me!! <33
since book one i have been eagerly anticipating lucian and sloane’s story. i needed to know what happened when they were younger and why they immensely hated each other, and to say i was disappointed when i found out the reason.. it was very nonsensical. like i was expecting a big revelation and once you find out the real reason i just thought.. “oh.. is that it like imagine hating each other for 25 years over something so stupid. it was honestly such a lazy way to keep their conflict going. miss thing had so much time to come up w something better and all she comes up with a dumb reason like that?? their conflict could have been resolved in 10 mins not 2 decades. i did love the flashbacks to when they were younger though. lucian came from a broken home and he found light within the sunshine girl next door and i just found their friendship heartwarming and sloane’s parents giving him that parental love he was longing for was just so beautiful to witness.
i refuse to believe the men in series are 40+ when they behave like 15 year olds!! like seriously, their behaviour throughout this series was so embarrassing - like in this book they fist fight each other outside a bar?? as carrie bradshaw once said: “STOP IT, YOU’RE MIDDLE AGED
i wasn’t even surprised we got another unexpected crime plot randomly thrown in, it was honestly just unnecessary lmaoo. but y’know it’s a true lucy score style to randomly throw in a dramatic hostage situation and shooting scene. the romance story with thriller thrown in plus the several side stories?? it just does not work for me unfortunately..
where was the badass sloane from book 1 and 2?? her character done a drastic 360 turn in this book and she annoyed the hell out of me. instead we got this simple one-minded woman who is borderline obsessed with getting married and having children.. EXCUSE ME, THIS ISNT THE STRONG, INDEPENDENT WOMAN FROM THE PREVIOUS BOOKS.. I WANT HER BACK!! yes we got some badass moments but it was only little tiny crumbs bc everything was overshadowed by her wanting to get married and find a sperm donor.
LUCY SCORE I AM BEGGING YOU TO PLEASE STOP WRITING SPICY SCENES!! the dirty talk was cringy, i literally gagged. and if i had to read lil miss petite sloane talk about how big lucian’s dick was ONE MORE TIME i was going to throw my kindle out the window, and my kindle doesn’t deserve that kind of treatment. the way sloane would talk about his big dick in EVERY. SINGLE. CHAPTER. got on my last fucking nerve, like girl SHUT THE FUCK UP. WE GOT IT THE FIRST 10 TIMES!!
”now that your penis has invaded my vagina YALL ARE LIKE 40, WHO TF SAYS THAT OMFFF 😭🤢
”mr. big dick had an ego the size of…well, his gargantuan penis.
”there was nothing holding him back from jamming that gigantic penis inside me.
”Guinness World Record penis.
”monster penis
”lucian’s giant penis
”superhuman dick

overall, this was an easy read for me - even though it’s LONG af, you do get through it rly quickly. this story did have good banter and funny dialogues but it just didn’t hit the mark for me.. idk i just expected something more - and the spark between them felt missing.. i just think lucian and sloane deserved a better story. they are the best couple in this series so that’s a plus. the epilogue and bonus epilogue was so adorable, it wrapped up the series nicely!
