Imani I agree with the quote.

Nenia ✨ I yeet my books back and forth ✨ Campbell It's probably one of the best quotes I ever read! The moment I saw it I was like GOSPEL TRUTH!

message 3: by Deonna (new)

Deonna I always want to rewrite the endings to some movies, too! I love Michael Creighton, but those endings!!! Always hoped for more from such genius.

S.J. Pow I thought I was the only one who did that! (re-wrote endings that weren't to my liking) Although I did it in my head most often just after watching or reading. Lol. : )

Waldo Varjak I was actually tasked in high school to write the epilogue to Richler’s Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, to be seamless to his style. I think there are many who have engaged in some variation of the same activity. I am also a picky reader and only now, after deciding to write full time, find myself going back to read work I had initially passed over (on good intuition it seems). Not much speaks to my experience in life so I am polishing my voice preparing to speak up.

Nenia ✨ I yeet my books back and forth ✨ Campbell @Deonna: I feel the same way about some of Stephen King's works. He is a brilliant, brilliant writer, but some of his endings have put a serious damper on his story-telling.

Nenia ✨ I yeet my books back and forth ✨ Campbell @S.J.: LOL! You're definitely not alone! I remember as a kid, I read this book and was outraged that one of the (child) characters was getting away with being a little shit. I wrote this fanfiction piece where instead of getting away with it, the girl was shamed by her whole family...and the neighbors...and her friends...LOL. I was a reader most ruthless! XD

Nenia ✨ I yeet my books back and forth ✨ Campbell @Waldo: That's pretty much exactly what (good) fanfiction is! I think it can be really difficult to capture another writer's style, though!

C. (Comment, never msg). What I bemoan is a scarcity of my favourite book parameters; even whole sub-genres. I want heroines who are neither 20 year-olds, nor elderly (30 - 50)! Paranormal / spiritual meetings in compelling novels, for adults, without demons or vampires. Mysteries that are properly mysterious, not crimes.

To have it any of these elements is a score! All at once? I know I am looking for "The Goonies" for 40 year-olds, with paranormal content. I *am* going to have to write it myself! Any awesome fantasty or haunted house adventure that I see, I complain: "Why don't they have it for adults, who don't need permission to go on the quest"?!!!

Dawn Lawson Something flashed across my screen about your name being a nod to The Evil Overlord series.

HOW COULD I HAVE FORGOTTEN THE EVIL OVERLORD???!!!

I am currently obsessed with Jasper Fforde's Thursday series, but I can handle two obsessions at the same time. Or more. I have done it in real life often enough.

Could you be so kind as to toss me the author's name?

You can also hit me over the head for forgetting about him if you like.

I got handed dinosaur porn, then alien porn ... you know how it goes.
