If you take off your mask, you'll be arrested - maybe even sentenced to death. Every year, all eighteen-year-old citizens must attend the Masquerade Ball. You must come out with a partner and be engaged within two months. You must be married within one month of the engagement. And, you must have a baby in one year after the marriage.
