"Dewey, The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched The World" was very good. It's about the love between a lady and the cat she found in the library book drop box that she let live in the library. It was a very friendly, affectionate, energetic cat who became famous and who greeted the patrons and laid in their laps. It reminded me of my relationship with my cats and how special they are. The end as he aged reminded me of our Moe cat. I think anyone who likes cats would enjoy reading this book.

I guess I'm with the minority on this one. The writing is pedantic and the mid-western small town values stuff although quaint at first gets a bit sickening after a while...and saying WalMart saved a small town???? I liked the stories about Dewey. He does sound like a wonderful cat. On the other hand, I've met many wonderful cats. And the author tends to anthropomorphize a lot. I just don't think cats can reason in a human way as the author seems to think Dewey did. I liked how he brought the to

This is a heart-warming true story about a cat who was stuffed into the after hours book-return slot at Spencer library in Iowa on a cold snowy night in 1988. Dewey was raised in the library and had unique personalities, he was kind, gentle, and greet everyone and every staff with plenty of attention. To Dewey, the Spencer library was his home, he made a difference to everyone he knew and touched the heart of thousands of people. He was famous too, people came from Japan and all throughout the U

About 3/4 of the way through this book, I went into a panic. I realized that I was rapidly approaching the end, and I did NOT want that to happen! I couldn't put this book down, yet I did not want my journey through nearly 20 years of trials, tribulations, and triumphs at the Spencer, IA Public Library to end. You will laugh much more than cry, but cry you will. A not-to-be-missed book.

This is an ode not just to Dewey (and to library cats) but to libraries and librarians, and also to Spencer, Iowa (the type of small town that I can easily see Barack Obama visiting during the primary and the general election) during an economic downturn that's not so different than the one we're going through right now. If only we could all have a Dewey in our lives....

This book is now on the best seller list. I picked it up in Washington, D.C. as bathroom reading material. It is now near the top of my favorite books list. It is a beautiful story of a cat who inspired the World with his love and devotion to a small library in Spencer, Iowa. I hope you enjoy it too.

I can't put this down!! What a touching book about Dewey Readmore Books and a library that brought the community even closer together. I read this book in a day & 1/2. Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched The World touched my heart.
