I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I considered giving it 5 stars but ultimately settled on 4 stars because the first 100 pages or so moved a little slowly. Ultimately, by the time I was one-third of the way into the book, I could barely put the book down.
Kya is such a well-drawn and sympathetic character with a unique life experience, and the setting of the book is singular as well. The marsh almost feels like a character itself rather than simply the place where the events of the story occur.

This took me a few tries, but I got into it on this go.
I'm not really sure how this one wound up on everyone's reading lists, but I did enjoy it. It kept me guessing on the mystery part of it. ...more
