My favorite line from this book: (By the way, when Oprah Winfrey is suggesting you may have overextended yourself, you need to examine your fucking life.)
Part memoir, part advice book for professional women, part show-biz expose, this was utterly enjoyable. The only thing I didn't love was the constant joking--reminded me of an old boyfriend who was hilarious, until it got frustrating being around him because he never stopped joking around.

A word of warning here for perspective male readers of this book--it's total chick lit. Not much of interest for guys here. It's not really a biography either, rather a series of biographical sketches and rants of personal philosophy. All in all, a rather self-effacing book. It's almost as if she wants the reader to dislike her, but, yet, respect her as both a woman and a writer. But she makes it difficult. It's the first biographical book I've read where I ended up having less respect for the s

This book...it's like Lean In, but with more funnies! Apparently Tina Fey knows a thing or two about a thing or two, including but not limited to:
-Thriving as a female in a male dominated profession
-Recognizing the conflicting messages females are given about their bodies through the media
-How to throw a Peter Pan Birthday Party
-Explaining THE STAR of SNL how his opinion isn't the be-all and end-all, just because he doesn't like it when you're unladylike
And so on. But told in a very very very ve ...more

I guess you'll never know what someone is like until they tell you about their "normal" lives. And in this we get a little sneak peek into Tina Fey's life. It's funny and witty BUT at times a bit boring...but maybe that's just because her real life growing up is just that...real...and not necessarily funny. The second half of the book, though, dealing with her adjustment with a bigger paycheck and her dealings with celebrity, Sarah Palin, and motherhood...that was interesting. I don't know that

I couldn't imagine going right from The Goldfinch to another work of fiction; I had a feeling that whatever I might read next would never measure up & I would be bored & disappointed! Not wanting to do an injustice to this hypothetical work of fiction that I did not read, I picked up Bossypants instead, & spent a few days laughing out loud in inappropriate settings. There are quite a few parts of the book that really are very hilarious!

I LOVED this when I read it. I loved listening to it even MORE! I mean...I'm probably going to listen again in the near future. It's just that good.

I started reading this aloud with Kelly, taking turns reading each chapter, and I think Fey's voice was lost with our narration. I revisited it on audio book, and I'm so glad I did. Her delivery adds so much to the narrative, and the audio excerpts from SNL episodes where Fey impersonates Palin are an added bonus.
