Not exactly bad, but the story falls apart if you think about much of it at all. I am annoyed with how the author kept talking about, over and over again, all the "running" the MC had done with her kids, but she literally never once even tried to leave the country nor was it addressed why this was (which I felt was lazy on the author's part). It's hard for me to believe that someone had "desperately tried to disappear" more than once when they couldn't even be bothered to give the next country o

I can't wait to see what happens next. The suspense in this book is great. I can't believe the twist and turns that goes on in this book and who you can trust and not trust. Also the fact of the crazy murderous hubby is definitely a kicker too. Wow.

An incredible psychological thriller!
A family in distress needed to find somewhere to live and that was Stillhouse Lake in Tennessee. Unfortunately, all is not as it seems and threats arise in what is considered a close knit community. Who can you trust with some of the most important parts of yourself, and what sacrifices are needed for that trust?
I was mesmerized by this book from the moment I opened it, and that stayed until the end, even when I thought I knew where the moment was going. I al ...more

"everyone runs from the monster. Everyone except the monster slayer"
A wonderful, creepy mystery - surrounding a woman who is the ex-wife of a serial killer. She's trying to keep the sadistic, crazed people away from her and her family. The ones that don't believe she didn't have a hand in the killings or know what her husband was doing.
Although there were parts that were hard to read - I just want to believe the cops would at least we willing to see more than one side - I found the crimes and th ...more

What to rate? Oh what to rate! I am so torn. I really liked it, even though I wasn't a huge fan of Gwen. I like gritty, what would you do, scary situations. I like to think, "would I do that?" She made some questionable decisions in my book, but I get it.
I stayed engaged in the mystery. I wanted to know more, and it was unwrapped a little at a time. However, there were a few too many things thrown together for my liking. A few questions left unanswered (probably to get you to read book 2). And ...more
