What Members Thought
I was lucky enough to receive this ARC at YALLFEST this year in downtown Charleston.
As a note, I am not good at writing book reviews. I am not good at writing in general :P
But this book was exactly the reason why I love YA. Magic Realism is probably my favorite subgenre of YA and this book really fits it.
Here's what I like about it
1) The character growth of Scarlett. I could just feel her growing stronger and stronger as each day went on
2) New mysteries to be solved every chapter and everyday ...more

Caraval is a magical journey into a lush, vivid world. Scarlett is a heroine with deep strength—but who doesn’t know it yet—and watching her come into herself through the adventure of Caraval is one of the pleasures of this story.
There were so many twists and turns, and everyone seemed to have secrets. I was constantly guessing who was real and who was telling the truth as the layers peeled back and Scarlett was pulled deeper into the underbelly of this strange, terrifying, wonderful world.
