Smelvie asked:

I don't think the title fits the story. No one is given "last rites," and no one is buried. I understand that it is trying to symbolize the death associated with this story, but isn't the choice of title a bit misleading to the reader?

Diana It is misleading. The book should have been titled "Agnes" or something like that. It takes the idea in the ending and makes it a title, even though the book was not about rites at all. There should have been a more fitting and imaginative title.
