Totally works as a standalone.

Sofia, just for fun, I'm reading the Poirot books backwards from the last (Curtain), then next to last (Elephants Can Remember) to third from last (this one). This one is fine as a stand-alone, but sort of a relief that Oliver finally gives up on apples, while Poirot, however, can't give up his vanity (his way too tight, polished shoes which cause obvious discomfort.)
