Hi Michael! Thank you so much for delving into this story the way you did. This is the most fascinating modern true story I've read in a long, long time. Dude is a genius. What an amazing story, thank you for telling it. Were there any other little details that maybe didn't make the book, but you can share? I can't get enough of this story; the scope of what Mr. Knight did is mind blowing.

Hi Doug. I greatly appreciate your kind words about the book. Boy, there was a ton of stuff that I didn't put in the book -- one of the few things Knight liked to talk about was his reading and musical tastes. He had a very funny riff about John Lennon, about how Beatles fans just thought Lennon was a sort of demigod. And he did have some good lines about how poor his cooking was. And so many people on the pond shared their hermit recollections but I couldn't fit it all in. I'm sorry I can't be more specific off the top of my head!

Michael, I just finished "The Stranger in the Woods" which my family & are I reading for our family book club (my 15-year-old brother-in-law was the one who picked it out!). I loved it despite the sadness of Chris's story. You did a wonderful job describing his inner-life. I'm curious what attracted you to Chris and his story & why you felt his story was worth all the work to tell it? Thank you for writing it!

Hi Michael, I'm 2/3 of the way through your book and since there is so much debate as to whether or not Christopher Knight had a mental illness a thought comes to mind. Has anyone asked Mr. Knight if he would allow a psychiatrist or psychologist to do further study on his brain either while he is alive (via and MRI or other brain scan) or in an autopsy? That may provide valuable insight into his actions. Thanks, Sue
