Hi Cece! I got "El Deafo" for my little sister, who just moved to California from Russia and is really struggling to understand other kids and/or talk to them. She loved the story and identified with your character (you?), even though her "difference" is very "different". My question is - are you planning on continuing the story - el Deafo's adolescence, for example? I loved the book too, a big thank you for your work

Hi there! I would think that your little sister's experience right now with the language difference is very much like my own struggle. It's definitely a book about communication struggles, among other things.
I'm still not sure if I'll be continuing the story...but you never know!

Hi Cece, I'm hard of hearing so I LOVED reading El Deafo (recommended to my by my Girl Scouts!). I have never read a book where I was able to associate so well with the character. Are you thinking of writing more books with deaf or hard of hearing characters? Or do you have recommendations for other books with d/hh characters?
