ŷ asked Jonathan Maberry:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Jonathan Maberry Couple of things...

Only write the books you are absolutely ga-ga in love with. No matter how dark the subject matter, if you love the project, that passion will show through in the writing.

Second, don't pause your forward momentum to revise before the entire first draft is done. It not only kills pace in the story, it can very easily derail your overall progress.

Third, don't let anyone talk you out of it. And they will try.

Fourth, learn as much about the publishing business as possible. The more you understand the business, the more easily you'll be able to navigate those waters in ways that build your career.

Fifth...and perhaps the most important... always be kind and supportive to other writers.
