I finished We Were Liars yesterday and am still thinking about it and think I will for a long time..Have you thought at all about a film version? I think Edward Herrmann should play Grandad!I felt at times , it is written like poetry, as a diary and as just rambling but beauty throughout. What made you decide to format the book this way?

Film versions are far out of an author's control -- but thank you. As for the form, it really is just what came out when I wrote. I like the free verse format as it allows me to control the pacing of certain scenes.

So...We Were Liars was a great read. I really like the fact that it leaves you feeling all these emotions and leaves you utterly breathless. I read the ruby Oliver novels years ago and I have to say that Liars is pretty different from it. What made you decide to shift perspectives and write a novel that's not "light"? And how was the writing process like?
