Joseph Haas asked Anna Pitoniak:

I just love the final paragraph of chapter 24 of The Helsinki Affair, focusing on the dog's viewpoint. Is there anything you could share about writing that, deciding to include that perspective in a spy novel? If so, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Anna Pitoniak Hi Joseph! I'm so glad you liked that paragraph—I loved writing it, too. It was one of those moments that came about organically as I was writing the scene. I wanted to give the reader a little moment of grace, and tenderness, by drawing closer to Lucy. I am a dog-lover myself (just like Charlie), and I think we have a lot to learn from these animals, from the way they live life in-the-moment, and don't fret too much about what they can't control.
