Geenyas asked Erik Larson:

You've written expansively on a number of historical subjects (Devil in the White City, In the Garden of Beasts, Isaac's Storm, Thunderstruck). What is it that attracts you to historical stories and why do you think they are relevant to modern readers?

Erik Larson My goal in writing so-called narrative history is to create as rich a historical experience as I possible can so that a reader can sink into the past and emerge, ideally, with the sense of having lived in another time. If that makes my books relevant to modern readers--yay!
