Ginger asked Susan Sands:

We are reading your book for book club this fall; I'm really looking forward to it. My 16 year old niece will be visiting when we discuss the book, is your book appropriate for that age? Is there any content I should be concerned about? Thanks so much!

Susan Sands Hi Ginger,

I'm so excited that your book club has chosen AGAIN, ALABAMA as this month's pick!

I have a daughter turning 16 this month, and I would allow her to read it if I discussed it with her first. There's no graphic sex in the story, but the characters do have a long-awaited romantic lovemaking scene that is sexual. You might want to read just that part before deciding. A lot depends on how mature your niece is. Movies, and even television these days are far more shocking than what's between the covers of this story, but I would feel more comfortable if you had a look before giving her the green light.

Since the book is digital, I can't give you a page number, or I would. I guess the scene is about three-quarters into the story. I really don't think there's anything else a 16 year old would struggle with.

Have a wonderful book club discussion and a great visit with your niece!

Let me know if you'd like to skype me in!
