KayGreins asked Sophie Hannah:

Can you briefly tell me how you write your novels? From the idea to the outlines. Your preferences? And how you write them, the time? Do you encounter writer's block? And how you conduct your researches too. I want to write my first novel, but I'm nervous. I need an inspiration from you.

Sophie Hannah I plan a lot. So, once I know the initial mystery hook and the solution, I do a 50 - 100 page plan of the whole plot, and edit that, so that all the structural stuff is dealt with. Then I write the actual book, which is then much more relaxing because I know all the plotting has been taken care of, so I can concentrate on writing well! No, I don't suffer from writer's block, but I do suffer from a tendency to procrastinate and put off starting work! Don't be nervous! Read 'Big Magic' by Liz Gilbert - that will help you to overcome your nerves.
