Did the book meet your expectations?

Katerina It did not meet my expectations but it may have been also driven by how little I knew about the book before reading it.

It is a good book, well written. However, in my view, it is less structured then I would prefer. The chronological line is in my view not enough to make the book flow smoothly. Sometimes, the transitions between history/the awakener story and portrait and the authorâ€™s personal story line are not so well placed â€� in my view. Sometimes the reading felt quite tiresome.
I personally enjoyed learning about the five awakeners and it was a good way to present them in such a piece. It was definitely worth reading to learn about these ladies and the history of single women in 19th and 20th century. (less)
