Ella Syverson asked:

I really want to start reading some of Patricia A. McKillip's books, but I don't know where to start. Do they go in an order? Is there a specific one I should start with? Please help!

E.A. Lawrence As far as I know, there is no particular order to her books. I believe that she is best know for her Riddlemaster trilogy. While that is a good series, it is not my favorite. Od Magic, Winter Rose, and the Forgotten Beasts of Eld are my favorite books of hers. I did also recently finish an anthology of her short stories entitled Harrowing the Dragon that was a fun read overall. I think that you should dive into whatever title appeals to you the most but, for what's it's worth, my gateway McKillip book was the Forgotten Beasts of Eld. I hope that this helps!
Rebekah Alphabet of Thorn is incredible and the first book of hers that I read. That's why I'm still reading her books now! Highly recommended. I also really like Forgotten Beasts of Eld, as others have mentioned. Winter Rose is less surprising, but definitely still enjoyable.
M. M. Sana I loved Ombria in Shadows. It was my first encounter with her. I just read Od Magic and did not care for it. So definitely don't start with Od Magic. I do love her prose!
Arwe Thereyet I first fell in love with her lyrical prose in the Forgotten Beasts of Eld, and I love almost everything she writes. My personal favorite is The Bards of Bone Plain, but I'd say start wherever you wish, and then read everything!. They are all stand alone stories, except for the three in the Riddlemaster series.
Lidia I totally recomend Winter Rose :)
