Pretty much what I expected and was glad I read it. Troublesome however at the parental irresponsibillty . I cannot believe his son was not taken from him. Anyone else feel that way? Surely there was enough money for him to have a nanny or some sensible person care for his son as opposed to taking him on the road.7 years old and Marlon was looking after his junkie father?

Amie Gabriel Just finished the book and I feel exactly the same way. Reading that he took a 7 year old on the road to care for his violent, out of control, junkie father I found somewhere between entirely uncredible and entirely irresponsible (to put it mildly.) At least he had the sense to leave their other small child with his mother as opposed to leaving her with her violent, out of control, junkie mother.
Alex Riester It was a different time in a different era. I think there were enough people in and out of the house that could vouch for him. I don’t know though. I’m not a social worker
