Would you ever write a book about the Borgias? I would give anything to see the tale you could spin for the Borgias!
C.W. Gortner
Hi Rebecca,
Thanks for asking. I actually have written a book about Lucrezia Borgia, covering her tumultuous, dramatic youth in the Vatican. The working title is "Borgia's Daughter" and it will be published in 2016 by Ballantine Books / Random House in the US, and Hodder & Stoughton in the UK. There's currently a listing for the UK edition here on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ, but the 2015 pub date is wrong. It won't be out until early 2016. My next novels are "The Tudor Vendetta," out on October 21, and "Mademoiselle Chanel", which will be out on March 17, 2015.

Hi CW, I have a question that relates more to the craft of writing. Do you approach these sorts of biographical novels the way most novels are constructed? i.e. with a definitive character arc taking the protagonist from start to finish and have them overcome a problem and/or flaw while battling an antagonist? Or is your goal to simply follow the life of your heroine and let that be the story?

I just finished "The Romanov Empress". I loved it. I felt I was standing on the sidelines witnessing the events as they unfolded. I received this book as a give-away on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ and am so grateful for the chance to read and now own the book. Well researched Historical Fiction is my favorite genre. When do you think you book about Sarah Bernhardt will be published?

I'm reading your book about Isabella of Castile (and loving it so far!) and I was thinking "there is no way the author isn't spanish, this world is too well known". I am spanish and I'm glad to read in your bio that you hold such love for Spain and its history. I was wondering how do you do the research process. And do you watch the tv show "Isabel"? I think you'd love it! Lots of love from Murcia :).
