Emma I read this book when I was around 13 and thoroughly enjoyed and understood this book. I do believe that if your child reads later on, when they are older they might be able to truly understand the deeper meaning of the novel, but it just depends on your child.
caitlin There shouldn't be an age limit on a book, especially not one like To Kill a Mocking Bird, anyone and everyone willing to understand the language in the book should absolutely read it. It shouldn't matter which age you first read a book, unless of course you're reading it for school, all that should matter is that you can comprehend what the author's trying to say.
Megan I read it in my English class when I was 13, and I definitely think a twelve-year-old could read this book, maybe even a younger child who is mature.
Melissa It was required reading for us at age 14. I definitely could have handled it at 12 I think, maybe even a little earlier.
Robert I was never assigned this book in school, however, I just read it for fun during downtime this month. I'm 37, and it was one of the greatest things I ever took time to read. Young or old, just read it. I'm glad I did.
Wolfus Pulpus You should read it at an early age, then read again a couple of years later. Have them read it a couple years after that, but this time have them read it twice. They will gain a better understanding than a one time reader.
