really interesting book with some strong themes, ethics, and ideas. my biggest objection is that the author could not imagine a utopia in which the pereally interesting book with some strong themes, ethics, and ideas. my biggest objection is that the author could not imagine a utopia in which the people running it are brown lol. like, “they came from the aryan mountains and were white!� of fucking course they were!!! anyways i thought the utopia was really well thought out and i loved the ideas of education. a communist system, if you really think about it, and made possible through the lack of rank (which partially comes from the single gender). i liked the three archetypes of men presented (at one point lmao i was like these guys are just the three main characters of star trek� sorry to throw jim under the bus by comparing him to terry tho) and i totally see the sociologist mc (!!!) as gay LMAO in the way that the main character of unnatural magic is gay but in a relationship with a cisgender woman. kinda wish the ending showed us ellador’s reaction to our world but i do get why it ended there. excited to talk about in class later! also i feel like this book really captured how men think about women that is sometimes hard to understand as a woman. like the woman vs person debate was so great ...more
