Twisted Ink had good character development, the spice scenes were different everytime, the plot kept my interest piqued, and it wasn't too long.
The difficulties the characters (Reyna, Parker, Trey, Dallin) went through as a poly relationship kept things interesting and kept me coming back for more. All the MMC's all had different personalities which I loved. Reyna, tho, has absolutely won my heart and for sure one of my favorite MFC now. The way she brought out the good in all the men and had her own special way in doing so with them separately was just impressive actually, especially with Trey since he was so gruff.

This would have been a 5 read if there wasn't so much spice in it. Don't get me wrong, I love spice. crave it even. but I would've loved to see the mental and emotional relationship between Brody, Knox, Hannah, and Lex grow, more so than the physical one. Attraction was there from the very beginning.
The plot is easy to find and follow (for me at least). Characters were written well and each had their own personality (they don't all have the same stereotypes which that obviously won me over).
Lex - I instantly fell in love with her, and her hard exterior front she puts on.
Hannah - Love her soft hearted personality and how she strived to be there for everyone when things got hard.
Knox - Literally is the definition of "Is a cinnamon roll, could kill you".
Brody - I liked him. I hated him. Now I love him....more

All three of the MMC's (Jake, Noah, and Kaleb) made me EXTREMELY uncomfortable and they all are toxic in a lot of ways and major red flags. The fact that Tiernan was hopping bed to bed every night knowing dang well that she was sleeping with her FAMILY members (even if they aren't blood related) was just disgusting and not my cup of tea.
This was my first read by this author and I wasn't impressed and a bit disappointed. I tried out this book bcs I heard ppl talking abt it and giving it good reviews. In all honesty I should have done more research on it and looked at the bad reviews on the book so I got more of an idea on what I was getting myself into.
I'll be trying out other books by Penelope Douglas to give her a second chance and to see if her other books are better than this one.

It was a fun and quick read for me. Absolutely ate up the relationship between Nate and Stassie and also the fact that in the beginning Stassie didn't like Nate but gradually started to warm up to him and like him. The trials the characters went through throughout the whole book kept me really intrigued and I was always dying to find out what happened next.
Can definitely say this isn't a slow burn tho, it cuts to the chase fairly quickly; if you're someone that prefers slow burns then this book might not be for you....more

I wouldn't say I went into this completely blind but I also wouldn't say I knew exactly what it was about..haha. The book really opened up my mind to the chess world and I enjoyed learning more about it. Ali Hazelwood had a good ratio on the plot(loved that she stuck with it and didnt switch it up half way throughthe book), relationship between Nolan and Mallory, and also explaining how the chess world works.
The book follows along Mallory's pov. I had fun reading about her journey going back into the chess world and her dealings with how she lost her father, and how she grieved and and how she ended up healing from her past (that probably makes no sense but oh well). The relationship she formed with Nolan was just chef's kiss to me, and how she got him to soften towards her had me OBSESSED with their relationship. I was so freaking happy that it was a HEA in the end for them.
I didn't really like how short the last chapter was but it still ended good.
The epilogue honestly caught me off guard. I was expecting the story between Nolan and Mallory to continue, but instead it was a reporters review on how things were going between them and ngl how the epilogue was written was a nice surprise. Throughly enjoyed it.
Overall if I could give this book a 10 rating I would. Going on my recommendation list for others. And I can't wait to read more books by this author.
