10/5 Stars. It'll never stop being my GO TO book for when I'm in a reading slump. The spice, character development, plot, and the struggles the characters went through throughout the book were all chef's kiss.
I literally can't get enough of this book lol.
(all over the place and not that good of a review ik...anyways)

Everything about it has won my heart and it'll 100% be a re-read for me. The book had me giggling, kicking my feet, and I even teard up 2 or 3 times.

I wouldn't say I went into this completely blind but I also wouldn't say I knew exactly what it was about..haha. The book really opened up my mind to the chess world and I enjoyed learning more about it. Ali Hazelwood had a good ratio on the plot(loved that she stuck with it and didnt switch it up half way throughthe book), relationship between Nolan and Mallory, and also explaining how the chess world works.
The book follows along Mallory's pov. I had fun reading about her journey going back into the chess world and her dealings with how she lost her father, and how she grieved and and how she ended up healing from her past (that probably makes no sense but oh well). The relationship she formed with Nolan was just chef's kiss to me, and how she got him to soften towards her had me OBSESSED with their relationship. I was so freaking happy that it was a HEA in the end for them.
I didn't really like how short the last chapter was but it still ended good.
The epilogue honestly caught me off guard. I was expecting the story between Nolan and Mallory to continue, but instead it was a reporters review on how things were going between them and ngl how the epilogue was written was a nice surprise. Throughly enjoyed it.
Overall if I could give this book a 10 rating I would. Going on my recommendation list for others. And I can't wait to read more books by this author.
