In it he talks about the new ways of dating in modern times (it sounds awful), technology (he even took a jab at bookstagram, which I loved) and many other random topics. For anyone 35 and older, this will be comedy gold for you.

I have and always will love Robin Williams. Not only did he make me laugh until I cried, he could make me cry in sympathy for him in his serious roles. My heart broke when I heard of his passing, and to this day I still can't believe he is gone. If you're a fan, I highly recommend this book. It is a well written and researched biography about a wonderfully talented man that everyone loved and few understood....more

It is unbelievable how brilliant Albert Einstein was, just pure genius. My favorite parts of the book were the descriptions or situations Albert Einstein just didn't give much thought to or notice. How he would go to an important event and not wear socks. How he would get lost and not remember where he lived after going on a long walk. Never combing his hair. Staying over with friends and he wouldn't bring a change of clothes. Leaving in the morning to go sailing, only to have not returned, making people worry, searching, only to find him in his boat, having never left the dock, deep in thought. Sitting at a black tie event about to be given an award, and he would just sit and scribble notes, unaware that the attention was all for him, because he was deep in his own thoughts. Always, always deep in thought. And for all the facts, letters, quotes and descriptions, there was still one part that couldn't be revealed, which was, just what exactly went on in the man's head when he would go inside himself, oblivious to all around him. For all he wrote and shared,(for goodness sakes, scientists are still doing his homework aka gravitational waves) there seemed to hint at so much he didn't, probably couldn't share. I have always loved and admired Dr. Einstein, and after this read, the admiration and awe I have for him has grown. I gave it a 4 star, because the writing and information was sometimes repetitive, but the man himself, Mr. Albert Einstein gets the full 5 stars....more

A funny and yes, awkward collection of essays about the struggles of growing up in a world that feels likes everyone gets it but you. The author Issa Rae is a talented woman, who now has a bit tv series on HBO, which I love and recommend. If you were or are a shy, awkward girl, which I was when I was a kid, only now I'm just loud and awkward, you will relate to this collection, as I did, and it's always good to see that I'm not the only one who was constantly out of touch and thought every else knew some life secret that I had missed out on. A fast read that will give you several good laughs for an afternoon....more
Princess Leia was the only princess I looked up to and wished to be growing up. Princess Leia was tough, smart, beautiful, with a fantastic hairstyle Princess Leia was the only princess I looked up to and wished to be growing up. Princess Leia was tough, smart, beautiful, with a fantastic hairstyle and a Jedi for a brother. Also, she had the best looking scoundrel in space, Han Solo. What little girl didn't want to be her? So when this came out, and I heard what it was about, I knew I had to read it. Carrie Fisher is a sarcastic, funny and honest writer, not hesitating to write about herself in a not so pretty light. I admire that and so I will read her books faithfully, knowing she isn't writing the fairy tale version of Hollywood and her celebrity. But Carrie Fisher doesn't bash her fame, she knows she is loved for her most famous character, Princess Leia, and in return, loves Leia as well and will always do what is right for Leia, no matter the weird way it effects her own life. This may not have the trivia one hopes for, but I love that it didn't have much of that. It was a look inside the head of a young, inexperienced woman, who loved the wrong man, and fell into sudden fame. It is funny, wise and insightful. A great read for women who are Star Wars fans, and have loved Han Solo for as long as they could remember....more

I love when I read about what goes on inside another person's head. It helps to see that I'm not the only one who thinks like this:
"I don’t make pretty pictures. Sometimes I wish my imagination were fueled by something other than panic and dread. But I don’t have control over my gift. It has control over me and I am dragged by it more often than not, away from the idyllic land of normal. Imagining the worst has always been a great comfort to me. If there is turbulence there is an imminent crash. If she doesn’t pick up the phone, she is fucking someone. If there is a lump it is a tumor. By thinking like this I protect myself from disappointment. And if anything other than the worst-case scenario unfolds, what a pleasant surprise! The problem is that I am always walking around preparing for and reacting to the horrors of what my brain is making up, living as if every potential terror and every defeat were already happening—because in my mind, it always is. I think if I could just create a series of characters to enact all the heinous possibilities my brain manufactures to insulate me from joy, then I would be using my creativity in a safer way."
I'm glad to see my brain isn't the only one who likes to hijack control of my thoughts.
So if you want to crawl inside another person's brain, and see what and how they think, read this book. Hopefully you walk away feeling less crazy, and with the comfort that you're not the only one who has a hijacking brain. But if you don't think like Marc Maron, and this book makes you feel crazy...

But the man becomes poetic when he talks about the music and his utter love and respect for it. The tales he told about the musicians he met and worked with were fascinating.
