After reading the book I can see that it made sense in context. I honestly feel like Julie Klassen’s book covers don’t do the books justice. I know, I know, don’t judge a book by its cover! (We all do it) I’m relatively new to reading Christian Regency books and still find the secular book covers much more appealing. I’m more interested in reading clean books, which is how I found this author. I found this book refreshingly different from Melanie Dickerson’s other books. I read all of the Thornback series first since they were at my library.I found this book refreshingly different from Melanie Dickerson’s other books. I read all of the Thornback series first since they were at my library. I liked them all very much, but I do like the regency style better. Since they are YA books, they do sometimes seem rather predictable. Dickerson’s books are always somewhat of a guilty pleasure for me. They are easy to read, yet still addicting. It usually only takes me a few minutes to get hooked even though I can often predict the ending within a few chapters. I love to read them when I’m looking for an escape, but do not want anything sad or overly emotional. You always know you will end up with a happy ending. I think they are great YA Christian books. ...more
